Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Southern California. I taught special education but am now a stay at home mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of two beautiful girls ages 3 and 6 months. They keep me busy and on my toes but it's the best way that I can spend my time and feel lucky that I am able to stay home with them. I used to teach special education at a public elementary school and then at a private Autistic school. I have enjoyed working with kids with special needs my whole life whether coaching special needs soccer teams, working as an aide, volunteering with Special Olympics etc. I love playing tennis, wakeboarding, salsa dancing, playing the piano along with spending time with my family and taking my kids to Disneyland.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church but it was important to me to gain a testimony for myself. As a teenager I read the Book of Mormon on my own and prayed while reading and then again after completing the Book of Mormon. I received an overwhelming answer that it was true and know with all my heart that I am a member of the true church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. What I love about this gospel is it is complete and answers questions about where we were before we came here, why we are here and where we are going after we die. I know that I can be with my family forever, not just "til death do we part" and know that my Savior has provided a way for me to overcome my weaknesses, repent and be worthy to live with my Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as an adviser to the 16-18 year old girls in my ward. I get to help plan activities and participate in activities with them each week and teach them lessons on Sundays. I feel so lucky to get to work with the amazing youth and especially the amazing girls in my ward and the other leaders who serve with me. I am also a visiting teacher which is where I am assigned 3 other ladies who are members that live in my area and I visit with them and check up on them each month. Visiting teaching enables me to get to know other people, to serve them and to be served as I also have visiting teachers who visit me.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jessica
We study the Bible every year and learn from it each Sunday. Our lessons are taught from the Bible along with the Book of Mormon which is just another testament of Jesus Christ. They go together and are studied together. Both are important and both are scriptures that teach us about our Savior, our ancestors and how we should live our lives each day. Show more Show less
