Hi I'm Alix

I'm married to my best friend with our first baby on the way, I love the South, I have lived in Africa & I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Utah and raised in Georgia! I'm twenty years old and married to my best friend, Braden. Our one year anniversary is June 13th and we are having our first little boy the beginning-middle of April this year! We were so excited to have kids, so we didn't wait long ;) The South was a wonderful place to grow up. I enjoy the sun and 70 degree weather in the middle of November and all the history that the South is know for...but at the same time, I am loving Utah! I really prefer the dry weather apposed to the humidity that the east coast is heavily burdened with! ;) I was home schooled for part of my schooling and absolutely loved it, so I plan to carry that on with my own children! I am the oldest of three children. My brothers are adopted, and I am so thankful for both of them and the energy they bring into my life! I am very interested in learning about health and nutrition; I truly believe that our bodies are temples and that we are responsible for taking good care of them. I have played the piano, guitar and violin all at different points in my life and have enjoyed them all! I enjoy singing, cooking and baking and hope to continue to get better at them! I also enjoy serving others and the joy it brings in my life! I know that God’s hand is in my life, and I am blessed beyond measure!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since I was born, however, this is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I have studied and know for myself that the teachings of this Gospel and good, wholesome and true. I believe in the gift of prayer, and I am so thankful to know that there is always someone there for me that will listen. I love my Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. The gift of the Atonement is incredibly amazing. It is unfathomable to me how someone could have so much love to give His life up for all of us, but I am so thankful that He did because it gives me the opportunity to repent daily and strive towards perfection which will help me return to my Father in Heaven, which is the ultimate goal. All of my experiences throughout my life thus far, even the most challenging ones, have given me joy and hope in knowing that there is something greater beyond this life. I truly believe that God knows each and every one of us and that He will not give us a challenge or trial we are not capable of overcoming, however, I also know that we must rely on Him to overcome the trials. In July of 2009, my family was finally to adopt the baby sister I always wanted. My mom was preparing to fly to Utah until we got the call and were told that the baby was a still-born. I remember sitting on the floor and just crying. I had so many negative thoughts and most of all the "this isn't fair" thought. I realized after a few days that I had to rely on God to help me through this time of pain, and knew only through Him could peace be found. I prayed that He would help me feel the peace I needed, and He did. This experience taught me Heavenly Father is a god of love. He gives us these experiences to teach us and make us better people not to hurt us and make us suffer. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live. I know that the Holy Ghost will guide me in times of need, and I am so thankful for this beautiful Gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to be an example of Christ wherever I go. I know how important it is to always set a good example because people are always watching. I set an example by making sure I am always dressed modestly and by making sure I don't use language that is degrading or disrespectful. I I know that everyone is a child of God, and I try to remember that even though it is a challenging thing to do. I know it is important to serve God's children, and I look for opportunities to do so. I enjoy attending church each week where I am spiritually uplifted. I try to think daily about all the many blessings God has given me, and I find that I am much happier and more grateful when I take the time to focus on the positive things in my life instead of the negative!
