Hi I'm Samuel

I am a physics major. I went to high school in New Jersey. I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to study pretty much all things. I have a passion for the sciences. I love understanding the world we all live in. I think of myself as a fairly rounded person who enjoys the arts in addition to science. I am also fascinated by artificial intelligence programming. I find it incredible that life-like simulations can come from discrete structures like computers. Outside of schooling I love to program and watch sports. I think my sport of preference is football, though soccer is a close second. I love to play a good game of pick-up anything. I am on an organized ultimate team that I have been playing with for the past two years. I also love board games. I collect them and have quite the stack growing in my house. I love to have neighbors and friends over for a game night with desserts. I generally enjoy life as it comes at me.

Why I am a Mormon

I live what I believe. I believe that this is the true church and that God has a purpose for us all on this earth. I think that my life would be without much purpose if I did not have the direction of some omnipotent being. I could make any decision without consequences and that seems like pure chaos. Thankfully believing in an all-powerful God does not mean that He is a dictator that forces all of my decisions to go one way. Instead he guides me and allows me to make mistakes. I feel his presence near me as I do my best to follow his commandments. Additionally, I have had personal experiences with prayer and following the commandments that have solidified my testimony. These personal experiences have helped me through difficult times in my life when not everything was perfect. In fact looking back at those times life was sometimes terrible. With the added wisdom of hindsight I am able to see the Saviors hand most prominently during those time in my life. I feel blessed to know that I have a friend during even the most trying times of my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by making it a part of my life. I attend church meetings and participate. I have a personal time to read my scriptures and pray to my God each day. I also have time to do this with my spouse. I see the hand of God all around me. I make a special and concerted effort to thank him when I realize my life has gone much better than it could have. This ranges from simple things such as catching myself when I start to trip on steps to much larger and more serious time involving serious investments of time and money. I find ways to be friendly with those in my community. Sometimes I invite them over for dinner and other times I will go out to a movie with them. This way I am able to get to know them and be a servant as the Savior was.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The Mormon lifestyle is a pretty normal one. We try to live to our fullest potential and enjoy ourselves while doing it. We understand that there are certain laws that God has given us and life should be lived within those bounds. These do not limit us but give us guidance in a few essential areas such as morals and teachings of right and wrong. We still struggle with the difficulties life has to offer. We go through life celebrating successes and learning from our failures. We feel that as we face what life has to offer we have the guidance and encouragement of a Loving God. Show more Show less
