Hi I'm Vicki

I am a teacher, a choreographer, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, teacher, choreographer, and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have always wanted to be a teacher, and am deeply grateful to those who have taught and inspired me. I have a Master's Degree in Modern Dance from Brigham Young University. There I was able to perform and teach in a gospel centered environment. I love to teach creative dance and see the joy that children emanate as they express themselves through movement. From 1990 to 2000, I had the privilege of traveling throughout the Pacific Rim and Asia through my work at Brigham Young University-Hawaii. There I was blessed to meet and interact with Latter-day Saints of many different ethic origins and cultures. My testimony has grown greatly through those experiences. I try to live by the council that was given me long ago, to "look to the bright side of life."

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home with an LDS mother and a Jewish father. Growing up in that unique environment brought with it blessings, challenges, and opportunities. I was taught the importance of respecting others regardless of race, religion, or culture. Experiencing two very different belief systems under the same roof was difficult at times, but it challenged me to ponder and learn for myself what the gospel of Jesus Christ was. I am grateful to my dad who supported me in my decision to be baptized. I have a testimony that is very dear to me that my Savior lives. The Holy Spirit has touched me many times testifying that the Book of Mormon is a sacred witness of Jesus Christ. I know that it stands with the Bible as a testimony of our Savior. I am grateful for the Plan of Salvation that lets me understand my purpose and potential as a daughter of God. I love my family, and am grateful for the holy temples and the sealing ordinance that can let us be a family forever.

How I live my faith

One of the blessings I have as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints is to live my faith as a member of Behold Dance Collective, a non-profit dance company created by LDS dancers and based in Oakland, California. As a dancer and choreographer, I am able to be a part of the company's mission--to bring a spiritual and uplifting side of dance to the San Francisco Bay Area by sharing our faith and testimonies of Jesus Christ through dance. Each year at Christmas time we perform "Behold the Gift--Celebrating the Life of Christ through Dance." Dancing and choreographing pieces that emanate our Savior's love and his teachings in the Holy Land and the Americas has blessed me with the opportunity to use my talents in a way that honors my Savior. I love dance and I love the Lord.
