Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a student, I'm a wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second youngest of four kids in my family. This past summer I got married and am enjoying the adjustment of married life. Right now I am in my junior of college and I am studying elementary education. I love the atmosphere of an elementary classroom and am excited to have my own classroom hopefully in about a year. When my husband and I are not busy studying for school and when it is not too cold we love to go outside and ride bikes, play croquet, and most recently play boche ball. I love spending time with family and we try and visit our families as often as we can.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even though I have grown up in the church I still made sure that I knew for myself that the gospel was true. When I was young I trusted the beliefs of my parents and learned about what the church stood for, and as I have gotten older I have been able to gain my own testimony or knowledge of the principles that are taught in the church. I have learned this through prayer and through the Holy Ghost. I love the peace that I receive through believing in Jesus Christ and the Atonement. Through Jesus Christ and his example I have a purpose and direction in life. The church is centered around Christ and about God's plan that lets us be with our families forever. One of my favorite parts about being a member of this church is that it teaches that families can be together after this life. Having this knowledge can help erase pain and sorrow that comes when one of my family members passes away because I know that I will see them again. The gospel teaches me how to be happy and be strong while going through difficult times and challenges.

How I live my faith

Every week I attend church and am able to partake of the Sacrament. Right now I also have an assignment to play the piano during church meetings. I am also on a committee where we help plan activities that our ward has at least every month. Through a program in the church call visiting teaching I am able to visit and get to know two sisters every month, and I also have two sisters that come and visit me. Visiting teaching helps me establish meaningful relationships with other women in the ward and it allows me to be able to help the sisters I visit whenever they need anything. I try and attend the temple every week which helps me remember the commitments that I have made to God. Every day I try to follow Christ's example and act as He would. I love the golden rule that we should treat people as we want to be treated, and I try to find ways to follow that principle. I am not perfect at doing all of these things but I try my best and rely on Christ to help me improve and make up for my imperfections.
