Hi I'm Jakob

I was raised in Arizona. I love music. I love Detroit. I love playing guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Yuma, Arizona to loving and wonderful parents and I just returned home from a 2 year full time mission in Detroit, Michigan, which I loved with all of my heart. I grew up with a love for anything that has an engine, thanks to my father, and a love for music, thanks to my mother. I learned how to ride a dirt bike around age 5 and I have loved it ever since. I played football (best sport on earth), water polo and did competitive swimming in High school. I was in a couple of bands throughout high school and the first year of college. I love to play hard rock and classic metal on guitar, bass and drums; but I also enjoy playing a variety of different styles including blues, jazz, classical and alternative on a variety of different guitars from 6 and 7 string guitars to 12 string guitars. Anything that has a good beat and is not mediocre, I enjoy. I love to sing, and I have sang in a few choirs, one of which was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York, and I am now a Tenor 1 in the East Valley Mormon Choral Organization. (EVMCO) I work at Mesa Public Schools as a bus driver and I love it! I also work for a company that contracts security guards out to events and venues around the state, like right now during the football season, I am a supervisor of security at all the Arizona State University home football games.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I know it is true. There is no one that can disprove that statement. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that the priesthood authority that Christ used to bless the people in Jerusalem is here and here only. I know that without the Book of Mormon, no one can come to full faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and reap the blessings of His simple, but elegant Gospel. Through this gospel I can live my life happily without guilt or shame.

How I live my faith

On my mission I served others with a capacity that I thought I could never have. As I served, my love for God increased as well as for the people in Detroit, and the city itself. That same thing has happened here in Mesa as well, as I serve with a willing heart, my love for the Gospel and for the entire human race has increased.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Jakob
We believe that you are only saved by grace. Now we tend to use that term "saved" very loosely depending on context. In this context, the scriptures teach that all are saved from death no matter what you do, but it does not teach that we are all saved from sin no matter what. Grace is only given to those who work as hard as they can, sparing nothing, towards a particular goal. Show more Show less
