Hi I'm Carl

Grew up in the mid-states/west coast. Serving people in Florida as a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a outdoor explorer kind of guy. Wether its snowboarding and mountain biking or just taking in the view of some of God's beautiful creations. I'm a Lover of playing sports, from soccer and basketball to ultimate frisbee. A seeker of truth, knowledge, and learning. A brother who has 4 brothers and 3 sisters. A college student who is currently taking a break to serve God. I enjoy spending time with friends and my family. I love to discover how things work/take them apart and put them back together. I love helping people.

Why I am a Mormon

That's a very good question, why? For me its many things that are important to me in my life. Even though i did grow up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, everyone has to come to a point where living off anothers' testimony or witness is simply not self sustaining. I experimented upon the words of Christ. I had a desire to believe. I lived the gospel and from doing so i can see the results. Almost instant blessing or good things happen in my life when i live and obey. It helps me to become a better person, it gives me hope of achieving the best i possibly can be, and the strength to get there. It has kept me safe from disasters and addictions. Helped me face challenges and trials. Helped me change my ways when i made and make mistakes. In fact it has brought me happiness and what i like to call "real pure joy" or lasting happiness, not something that ends over night but that continues where ever i go. I have a conversion story, but ultimately most of it, if not all of it came/comes from answered simple prayers over different periods of time. The way a Heavenly Father lets you know that he is there, in my own way he let me know. Its an answer everyone can recieve on there own through prayer and asking God.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by trying to do the best i can. To set a good example and to make a difference in the world for good. I strive to "treat others like how you would want to be treated." Its been a motto of mine throughout my life. I strive to be there for people. I try to follow Christs example the best way i know how. I live my faith by praying and reading the scriptures, each and every day. "Treasuring up the worlds of life.." Learning more about the Savior, Jesus Christ has and continues to strengthen my faith in him. This increase of faith helps me have a desire to follow him more and become more like him. It helps me know that no matter what I may face in life God is always there. "..God is [always] faithful,.." (KJV, 1 Corinthians 10:13) And with that trust i build my faith. I attend church each Sunday to take the sacrament (or communion), "the bread and the cup." This allows me to think about all the savior has done for me. It helps me receive answers to my prayers. It allows me to recommit to God the promises Ive have made. I also go to learn more and feel the spirit as i fellowship with the saints. The sabbath day for me not only is just church but the sabbath day itself. I spend time away from work and the worldly things to reflect. To ponder about my life, and spend time with my family who i love more than anything else. I also try and help other people not have to work on Sundays either so they to can keep the sabbath day holy. It just means i got to do my shopping on another day, but hey, its a small sacrifice for all the things he has blessed me with. I strive to work with others to plan events, activities, socials, service projects, etc. I try to be involved in different aspects of the community and with people of other faiths.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Carl
We believe we have all have a divine purpose here in life. That God, our Heavenly Father has prepared a marvelous plan for each and everyone of us. Understanding this plan helps us understand why we are all here on earth. God has a desire and love for each of us. He wants us to be happy, to progress, and become more like Him. He created this earth to provide an environment for me and you to learn, grow, and progress. On coming to this earth we gained a physical body. Are given agency of choice to choose for ourselves between good and evil. Learn and grow by experience and challenges that help us become more like our Heavenly Father. We can develop relationships with our families that may become eternal. Are purpose is to follow our Heavenly Father's plan and do the very best we can. He knows we will not always be perfect. He sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ to show us the way. To also come and atone for are mistakes and make it possible that we can live with Him again some day. We can enjoy peace in this life and eternal joy in the life to come with loved ones. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Carl
I truly believe that God continues to be the same "yesterday, today, and forever." That he calls men in our generations just like he did of old. (KJV, Luke 1:70) God gave his children commandments here on this earth so we may be blessed. Those commandments were revealed through righteous man God choose.(KJV, Amos 3:7) Men such as Adam, Moses, Abraham, Isaiah, and many other prophets testified of truth in times past. They testified of Christ, his life and mission. They held the power and authority of God, which is also known as the priesthood. By which they receive revelation or direction from the Lord for the World and Church of God here on the earth. I believe that God continues to call prophets after Jesus Christ came, just like Peter. Because of wickedness in the world this was prolonged till God saw fit. Joseph Smith (1805-44) was the first prophet of our time. He was chosen and raised up to restore the kingdom again in its fullness upon the earth. There have been prophets ever sense then. Thomas S. Monson is God's current prophet today. God leads His children to safety by His prophets. They provide guidance and council from our Heavenly Father. In these days in the world we need His guidance more than ever. You can listen to the words of living prophets through the blessings of modern technology. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Carl
For me there are a couple of reasons of why God exists, the foremost of these reasons is oppositions in life. Its is very hard at times and challenging to be good throughout life, while it is so easy to do wrong or be evil. Lehi a ancient prophet in Central America said to his son; "Wherefore, the Lord God gave unto man that he should act for himself. Wherefore, man could not act for him self save it should be that he was enticed by the one or the other." (Book of Mormon, 2Nephi ch.2:16). God values our own free will to choose and with those choices comes consequences for our actions. Life is so short to all amount to nothing. Another ancient prophet named Alma declared: "..all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator" (Book of Mormon, Alma 30:44).
