Hi I'm Brad

I'm from Portland Oregon. I am a college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name's Brad. I am a full time student, studying International Studies. I love playing Basketball, Rugby, Football, Surfing, anything athletic at all. I also really love listening to and making music. I used to participate in live concerts in a hip hop group with my friends in high school, and I still love writing and reading poetry to this day. I was called to serve my mission in Sao Paulo Brazil and I report to the Missionary Training Center in Sao Paulo in February. My life experiences have allowed me fantastic insight into all kinds of people and cultures and has really inspired me. I am the kind of person that people come to with their problems or questions. I live to help other people.

Why I am a Mormon

Believe it or not, just because I grew up learning the theology of this church does not mean that I was always confident in my own testimony of its truth. When my parents got divorced when I was 16 years old I had a choice to make. I could either leave the church and go to live with my father, which would probably have been the easy solution. Or I could stick with my mother and sisters and remain a memeber of the church. It was a pivotal moment in my life. I prayed for weeks for an answer. After much heartwrenching prayer, and conversation with my family I felt the strongest prompting I've ever felt that this church is true, and that I should never question this again. Ever since then, I haven't looked back. I know for a surety that this church is the only church on the Earth with the full truth in it's teachings. The decision I made when I was 16 blessed my life immensly. So much that I cant even count the ways that I was effected. Things were more difficult for awhile at first, but after that time y life has proceeded upwards in a steady pattern with no signs of stopping. I learned the most important lesson of my life, that challenges are presented us to make a choice, to overcome it and be better, or to run away from it and be hurt. Every trial in my life is for the betterment of me, and in turn, for others. I am a Mormon because I share the same feeling that millions of others feel all over the world, that when something enters your life that you love, and you know is right, you go for it. No atter what. No matter the hardship you are called to pass thorugh, or how strenuous the process is in your life. You just go get it.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith the way Christ would have me live it. Being a college student, I often find myself crossed with many temptations, whether it be to blow off class, to go to a party, to have a drink with the rugby team, to put myself in a bad situation with someone of the opposite sex who doesn't share my beliefs, and countless others. When these temptations arise I remember the choice I made all those years ago to give up the kind of lifestyle that is tempting me. I remember that I am a son of God and he will bless me for making the right decision. Most of my friends don't have the same moral base as me. I don't mind that. It's all about being strong enough to where you will be unshakable when temptations arise. Just because we don't agree with someon'es actions doesn't mean we don't like that person. We can hate the sin but we should always love the person. I guess I live my faith THROUGH faith. I live based on the things that I know to be right and based on past experiences. Nobody can be perfect but we can all strive for it. If there were no aspirations, then what would motivate us to wake up in the morning?

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

This may seem like a really bad answer to some, but I think that if you take time to think about it you will agree. My answer is just go outside and look around. Look at the bauty we are blessed with on this Earth. From the leaves in fall, to the soft snowflakes falling from the sky, to the oceans, to the dirt we walk on and the trees we look at and give us oxygen. God loves us. He surrounded us with beauty, and with nature that is very pleasing to God and His people alike. Show more Show less
