Hi I'm Zach

I'm a father, I'm a Mechanical Engineer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of two beautiful girls. I enjoy playing with my two year old. We watch cartoons together and read books together. I have been married to my beautiful wife for a little more than four years. I attended Arizona State University and earned my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. I currently work for the Boeing company as a Mechanical Engineer. Our family has been blessed enough for my wife to stay home and take care of our girls while I work and went to school. I enjoy working on my truck and fixing just about anything. I am also active in the scouting program. I love camping. I love basking in the beautiful creations that God has given us. Some of my favorite sports are Basketball, Soccer, and Ultimate Frisbee and not necessarily in that order.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon faith but that doesn't mean I was forced to become a Mormon. I chose to follow my parents counsel and guidance and eventually I had to know for myself if what I was practicing was right for me. I did not receive any grand answer or have some spectacular vision but slowly and softly the answer came to me. I realized that I was a son of my Heavenly Father and that he wants the best for me. When I came to this realization I continued to live my life in a way that I could keep this sacred relationship with my God. I know that God lives and that he sent his son Jesus Christ to the earth to teach us and ultimately pay the price for our sins, allowing us to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father, with our families, when we pass on from this life.

How I live my faith

Our congregation participates in the Boy Scouts of America. I am a leader of the older scouts ages 16 to 18. I also have the opportunity to teach the lessons on Sunday in church to the boys when we meet together. We do many activities to build the boys character including helping them obtain their Eagle Scout awards. Some of these activities include serving those around us and have included taking care of the elderly people's yards and collecting food for the poor. We also have fun together by going camping and playing lots of sports. I enjoy working with these great youth and helping them find themselves.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Zach
Paying 10% of my income, otherwise known as tithing, to the church is a commandment. It can be found in Malachi 3:9-10. I have realized that by paying my tithing Heavenly Father has made sure that all of my needs are met and many times I still have more to meet the growing needs of my family. I have always put my trust in the commandments that God has given me and He has always watched over me for being obedient. It is not always easy but it is definitely worth it to know that I have a Father in Heaven who watches over me. Show more Show less
