Hi I'm Chauncey Johnson

I am a Texan. I am a missionary in Wisconsin. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the great state of Texas and am one of the proud bearers of a Texas flag in my apartment at Brigham Young University. Currently I am serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission. I'm a junior studying communication disorders. I'm planning on working with teenagers and adult who have traumatic brain injuries and have lost the ability to speak. I plan to help them fix that! I am the third child out of four, and surprisingly, I am the only blonde. Perhaps because I'm the "odd child" I am a competitor in everything, especially sports. They have been my passion since I could crawl. However, a severe injury stopped me from pursuing my dreams of being a professional. But I wouldn't trade being whole to where my Heavenly Father has taken me now.

Why I am a Mormon

Life has not been easy for me. I don't think it's truly easy for anyone. We all have our challenges, trials, and experiences that make us question everything we know. But being a Mormon has given me direction when I have had times of doubt and question. Yes, I grew up being a member of the church, but I had to find out for myself and learn for myself if what I was taught was something I wanted to invest faith, my time, and my actions in. It has been the best decision. It wasn't an easy one. But I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the fullness of Jesus Christ's gospel and it is here on the earth right now for us to have. Our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to return and live with Him, so He has provided a Savior, our brother, Jesus Christ, who has atoned for all of our sins. However, we have to put in faith that if we repent and sincerely try our best to live the gospel of Jesus Christ of faith, repentance, baptism by immersion with the correct authority, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the laying on of hands, and enduring to the end, we have the opportunity to live with our Heavenly Father. What love for us, His children! It's not easy to be righteous, and I can definitely testify to that. But when has a good, true thing ever been easy? But it has always been worth it. I promise you, with all the energy of my heart, that if you really want to know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is really God's true church with the fullness of the gospel, ask Him. Ask Him sincerely, desiring to get an answer, and I promise you, He will answer. I have done it. Millions more have done it. Just do it! You can't lose anything from it! But it's ultimately up to you to invest your faith and ask your loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I am serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Mission starting September 4, 2013. I have always wanted to serve a mission and now have the opportunity to do so for a period of 18 months. I am so excited to be a full-time missionary, spending 16 hour days testifying of what I have come to know for myself. People ask me "why" all the time. It's because I know the joy the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me, and I want to share it with everyone. I see so many people who are troubled, sad, in despair, and need some true happiness and a foundation for that happiness. It is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It heals, strengthens, supports, anchors, blesses, relieves, gives hope, and peace. Who doesn't want that when we live in a world of turmoil and heartache and hurt? That's why I am sacrificing my wants for helping others find their foundation.
