Hi I'm Torin

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona, I am serving my mission call to San Pablo, Philippines, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona started basketball from the time I was three stopped playing b-ball around the time I turned fourteen decided to break the family mold of playing basketball (both older brothers played) and decided to play football instead, had a great sophmore year had some health issues that de-railed my junior and senior season decided to keep up with the weight lifting though. Lifting is my personal paradise, a break from the world. I come from a very sporty family and have loved sports since I was little, I play basketball all the time but football will always be my favorite, I'm also very much an outdoors person, fishing swimming, cliff jumping, hiking, anything outside is a personal favorite. I also enjoy cooking which I have fallen away from some but will be sure to pick it up on my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Born into the church I chose to be a member of this Church at the age of 8 because I know in my heart and my soul that it is true, I love this church and without it I wouldn't be the man I am today. It has bettered my life, the life of my friends, and the life of my family. Through the support of church members, which I consider some to be next of kin, and family the church has also helped me through many trials and struggles I have had in my own life, and through these experiences it has brought me closer and closer to God in my personal search for meaning. The church has also taught me how to give selfless service and has taught me that we need to help others at all times no matter our own circumstances. It has also taught me that loving everybody for who they are is a key principle and teaching of our Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My past calling in my home ward was to be the Bishop's son which had been a very exciting experience! It wasn't all that bad just never thought I'd be the Bishops son you know? But before I left on my mission one of the ways I lived my faith was by being a leader to the young men that were in the same group as me, these young men are 16-18 and I organized Wednesday night activities (which the church calls mutual) for them to help us become closer as a group and more like family. I also organize service activities that help fellow church members, neighbors, and friends. Not only that but personally I study my scriptures and go to church and ponder over both these things! I go because I know it is the True Church and I love it!!! Recently though I have left on an LDS mission leaving all I know behind to serve the people of the Phillipines because I know this is what God wants me to do!
