Hi I'm Erin

I grew up in New Mexico. I studied history in school, and have worked in education related fields since college. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college graduate with a History Degree. For me, history is so amazing! We live in a world that has been so largely influenced by all the people who came before us. It gives me a hope for the things I can do in my life, and reminds me of all the blessings I enjoy and can pass on to those that come after me. I am currently working in the schools as a substitute teacher but I want to return to school for my teaching degree and eventually a law degree. I love to read. Books are my Safe Haven, if I need to relax, if my brain needs a kick start, if I am feeling gloomy, I find myself reading. I remember that my love affair with books started when I was nine and picked up a Nancey Drew novel. I read the whole thing in three days and by the end of the summer I had read about thirty books in the series and was ready to find some more books to read. I moved through Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter, and recently the Hunger Games. I love the power of words and am constantly amazed at the places I can go and the people I can be through a book. I also am a mad card player. I love Canasta, Nertz, Speed, BS, Scum Bucket, and really anything that I can learn. I also really enjoy dancing, either doing it and watching it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon becasue I believe in God. I believe that he loves us and he wants us to make it back to him. I know that I can't acheive this if I just float through life. Through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I have felt the love of God in my life. I was raised in the Church and baptized at eight years old. I knew as a child that this church was true and that it was the only way to return to my Heavenly Father. As I grew up, I continued to be active and learn more about Heavenly Father and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and my belief, my knowledge has constantly grown. I remember one time reading in my scriptures, I was reading through the Book of Mormon, and I felt without a shadow of a doubt that it was true and that it was applicable in my life. I felt as if the prophet who was speaking to his son about conversion and turning to God, was speaking to me, I could have sworn that he was in the room with me and speaking to me personally. I am a Mormon because I know that the Lord is in this church. I know that there is no other way to return to live with Him and to feel his full influence in my life now.

How I live my faith

I work with a lot of teenagers and young adults in the Church. In the summer I go camping with the teenage girls in our area. We go and learn about nature as well as expirience a lot of spiritually enriched activities that really helps us feel the love of the Lord. It is an amazing expirience and I love the it everytime, we sing and laugh and learn and cry a little too sometimes. I also work with the single adults attending the local college. We call this institute. I love institute. It is a way for all of us members to get together and spend time talking about our faith, learning more about our faith through classes and just doing a ton of fun activities. in the last year we had the opportunity to go rafting, ice skating, hiking and had a few dances. I love knowing that we are all in the same age range and expiriencing the expiriences. We can get together and recieve strength from each other as well as have a ready access of friends and support for when we have a hard time. Add a growing faith in the lord and the result is amazing!
