Hi I'm Carl

I love music, martial arts, living, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Music is very important to me. I started playing the drums in junior high and have loved it ever since. I play in a band with some amazing friends. I started singing as well in my high school choir and did a year of jazz choir. Looking back I can see how important music has really been to my personal growth. I'm not an inherently outgoing person and I have always had a bad tendency to want to stay in my "shell". Slowly but surely though, music has helped change that. I started Jujitsu in high school and have grown to love martial arts more and more ever since. I love being active and trying to bring out the best in myself and others. Right now I am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Canada Winnipeg Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 13 my parents divorced and it had a strong effect on me. I was bitter, I had a bad attitude, and I was honestly headed towards a life of misery because of how I let that experience bring me down. I let myself think that life was miserable and that there was nothing I could do to change it. But God had a different idea in mind. He placed the best friends and leaders I could ask for in my path who would never leave me alone no matter how many times I told them to. I started reading the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, getting more into church, and praying more sincerely. I started really living what I had been taught my whole life but never really took the time to test. After reading the Book of Mormon and seeing the change in my life I knew that it was true, and I can't deny that. Since then I have come closer to God then I ever imagined. I never dreamed before that I could be this happy! I still make mistakes and have hard times like anyone else does, but I know now where to turn for help to be better, not bitter. Its still a work in progress, but God has helped me over the years to change my attitude and learn to be happy regardless of circumstance. I was headed towards a life of misery, but now I have hope for a bright and happy future. I'm a mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that this is His church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the best I can which, to be honest, isn't that great all the time. But despite that I know that through Jesus Christ my weaknesses can be turned into strengths. Every day I try to be a little better by being a little more kind, patient, humble, working harder, and serving others more. In short, I'm trying to be more like the Savior. He set the perfect example and though its not easy, I've found its the happiest way to live. I am currently sharing my faith as a missionary and loving every second of it. There is nothing better than helping people come to know for themselves what I know is true. Its amazing to see people's hearts change as they live the gospel of Jesus Christ. That's what living my faith really means to me. I do my best to help people and be a good example, but its seeing others experience the change of heart that comes from living the gospel of Jesus Christ that shows how important it is to me.
