Hi I'm Holli

I am from Utah and a student. I am studying scientific teaching methods. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to run, eat, study and hang out with friends. I play the piano, and sing, but only for fun. I am a college student, majoring in exercise science, but my interests lie in science education. I served a mission in Fiji and it was amazing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the church, and tended to take it for granted. But as I have grown up, I have seen peace and happiness in my life and the life of my family that don't seem as apparent in others who choose not to follow Christ's teachings. I have seen the blessings that we receive by keeping the commandments. Over the years, as I continued to read the Book of Mormon, and study the scriptures, I have become more and more sure that they are true words of God, given to direct us and help us. I didn't know that myself, though, until I had read it myself and prayed for myself. I know God answers prayers, because He has answered mine. I know Jesus Christ atoned for my sins, because I have felt the cleansing power when I repent. I know He lives and loves all of His children.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a member of a tutor committee that meets with our sister Spanish Branch. We tutor the children and youth that struggle in school because English is their second language. I also visit and strengthen sisters in my ward through service and through sharing my love and friendship with them. I was able to serve an LDS mission to the beautiful people of Fiji. I was able to serve them and invite/help them come closer to Jesus Christ.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Holli
In John 3:5, Jesus tells Nicodemus that "a man must be born of water and of the spirit or he cannot enter the Kingdom of God." In the Book of Mormon, in 2 Nephi 31:17, we learn that baptism is the gate to the road to eternal life. When baptized, we are making covenants with Heavenly Father, that we will always keep the commandments, always remember Jesus Christ, and take Jesus' name upon us. The making and keeping of these covenants are essential for us if we are to live forever with our Heavenly Father. That is why every new member is baptized. Show more Show less
