Hi I'm Cody

I grew up on a ranch in Southern California. I am a first generation college graduate. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the outdoors on a calf ranch in Southern California. I love outdoor activities like running and hunting. I am a beginner coin collector and would like to create a valuable coin collection for my progeny. I am married three years now with my first child on its way. I am very excited to become a father and look forward to do my best to raise my child in a happy family. I am a college graduate and am currently in my first year of law school. Law school is tough but my strong work ethic I learned from working as a child on a ranch has really helped me to succeed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon and thank my parents for everything they have taught me. At home I was part of a strong Mormon family, but outside of the home my religious beliefs made me a minority. Everything my parents taught I tried and tested myself outside of the home. It was not a good enough justification for me to believe the things I did just because my parents told me so. While I did trust what they taught me I also knew that they knew for themselves their own beliefs and that should be my goal as well. In social and personal situations oftentimes my beliefs would come to the surface and I was left with a decision to make. Do I do what everyone else is doing or should I do what has been taught me. That is when I relied on my parents but it was through that process that I would understand and see why it was so that that particular commandment or belief was necessary for me to follow. It was the process of doing what I supposed to do that I would understand why God wanted me to do it. Often and unfortunately, I would see friends choose a path different from what I believed and I would also see the consequences of that action. This was another way for me to learn and understand God’s commandments. This was an easier way for me to learn than for me to have to go through it myself. For these reasons I continue in the same beliefs that were taught to me when young.

How I live my faith

I feel I have always lived my faith through example. I believe a good example can be very impactful and often stronger than words. While I may often verbally share my beliefs I try to live a life where I share my beliefs through my example. A person can say one thing and do another and that it why I like to show my beliefs through my actions. I try to share my beliefs by being an honest person. I try to be moral and chaste. I try to live a clean and healthy lifestyle. I try to volunteer my time to my community and family. I try to serve my local congregation. I try to not judge others and see them as my Savior Jesus Christ would see them. I try to love others. I try to keep my speech clean and polite. I try to be a law-abiding citizen. This list continues but the most important thing is that I need to continue to try and not ever quit. I live my faith through my example.
