Hi I'm Melvin

I'm a husband, a dad, a son, and a brother. I live in Arkansas, grew up in Snowflake Arizona, work in business, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 15 years and have 4 children. I love to read science fiction books, tinker with upgrading/building personal hovercrafts, play sports, and spend time with my family. I grew up in the beautiful valley of the Snowflake silver creek. I had great exposure to learn how to play basketball, racketball, baseball, and run cross country. Worked as a paperboy, cook, dishwasher, grocery clerk, grounds keeper, car detail, paper/pulp mill fire watchman, construction, and maintainance. In High School where I learned about my love for reading, computers, and physics. I enjoyed reading about 'The Pearl' and how the divers would farm pearls from the ocean. I enjoyed converting our fossil fuel car to an electric motor vehicle and racing it against other high schools ( including large company electric cars ) at the Phoenix intl raceway. I went on to manage at grocery stores in Rexburg Idaho, Provo Utah while attending Ricks College and Brigham Young University - BYU. A large retailer recruited me into their IT department after finishing my Management Information Systems degree. Where I work as a programmer, technical analyst, real estate finance manager, and currently as a senior finance technology manager. I later found out that this company respected the interns from BYU and wanted more people in their company that displayed strong moral work ethics.

Why I am a Mormon

I began a personnal search for my own faith in Jesus Christ... Which led me to find that the Book of Morman is the word of God Another Testament of Jesus Christ. That Joseph Smith was the prophet of God called to restore the Church of Jesus Christ in these later days. I knew then that I must share this with others and began sharing my testimony and faith In Christ by service to friends and non-members. Served a mission in the Brisbane Australia Mission from 94-96. This brought me Joy and helped me connect with my father, who had served in the Australia Mission as well. While serving the people of Queensland Australia, I learned from the example of others in the church what true leadership means. That humility and faith(service) are what bring people to the awareness that Christ loves each of us. That He can touch their hearts with the spirit of truth and that they can be clean and feel joy once again. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. He has saved me from my sins. I love that the church teaches about Him and the plan of Him and our Heavenly Father for us to come to this life and be challenged to follow Them and return again to Them with our families. I love the knowledge this plan gives me about my roles as a father and a husband. It helped me know what I wanted to be when I grew up - a father. Also, how I can treat my wife as an equal in our search for happiness in this life and the life to come.

How I live my faith

I try each and every day to serve others. I try to serve my wife, children, family, fellow workers, and even the youth in the community. On this later topic I try to instill in the youth that they are leaders. I do this by looking for ways to give them the tools and opportunities to learn, do, and share their experiences as growing servant leaders. I try to study the scriptures and pray alone and with my family. I try to serve others as Christ would do through little things in my life and in my church assignments I am given.
