Hi I'm Scott

I am an artist, a photographer, a teacher, and a lover of truth. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am an artist, a photographer, a teacher, and a lover of truth. It is hard to easily put me neatly in a box, as I tend to live outside of the box in many ways. However, I have found that the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is for me an ever-expanding source of truth and light. I have found that living the commandments expands my perspectives and possibilities instead of restricting them. Obedience to truth leads me to more truth.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I have read the Book of Mormon many times with an open mind and heart. I have felt a warm, good feeling in my heart and soul as I have studied this book, so I know it comes from God. The book of Mormon is another witness of Christ. When God speaks to His prophets and they write what He inspires them to say, it is really like God speaking to me directly. I have learned so much about Christ from reading of Him in the Book of Mormon. I also love to read and study the Bible as it contains the words of Christ as well. Together they stand as two witnesses of Jesus Christ, and that God speaks to men through His holy prophets in all ages of time. I am a Mormon because I have found that living by the laws of this Church protects me from physical, spiritual, and moral harm and energizes my mind, body and spirit. The pinnacle of truth for me resides in the Temple, where the promises I have made with God allow me to create family bonds that will endure throughout Eternity. God intends that our family love and relationships should extend beyond this life into the next one.

How I live my faith

My faith is grounded in love through action. I love to help and serve others. Being a follower of Christ means to know Him, to become like Him and to serve Him. We love and serve Him when we love and serve our brothers and sisters. I am not perfect, but I am so grateful to Jesus Christ for the opportunity to turn from my mistakes and to change for the better. I want to become more like Christ in all that I do. He is my example, my Savior and Redeemer. He is the Son of God, the Savior of all mankind, and the Holy One of Israel. He lived a perfect life, suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and offered His life on the cross as a perfect sacrifice. After three days, He took his body again as the resurrected Christ and ascended to His Father in Heaven. The resurrected Christ appeared to his apostles and then before departing, he said in John 10:16 “Other sheep I have which are not of this fold. Them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.” The Book of Mormon relates the account of His visit to His people in the Americas. I live my faith when I testify of Him and of His restored Gospel to anyone who will listen. I can tell you that this Gospel had brought a joy, purpose and direction to my life that you too can have. I live my faith when I love as Christ loved, and serve my fellow man. I live my faith when I set a quiet example of choosing the right thing even when it is hard to do or when no one is looking. I live my faith when I forgive others for their lack of understanding or for actions which hurt me or others. I seek to forgive others as I seek to be forgiven and live the best life I know how to live. I live my faith as I read the words of God and seek to apply them each day in my life.
