Hi I'm Evelyn

I'm a Mormon. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 25. I live in Atlanta, Georgia.

About Me

I am a widow; my husband passed away in 1997 from cancer. I have four children, at the time he passed away they were 7 - 14 years old. My youngest is now in college. I have seven grandchildren....the light of my life. I enjoy going to the gym...which enables me to keep up with my grandchildren. I enjoy reading, aromatherapy, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

A friend joined the Church two years before I joined. I noticed the positive change in her life. In 1981, I started feeling depressed. I couldn't shake the feeling; I remember sitting on the couch and thinking about calling the missionaries. As I had the thought to call the missionaries, I had the most wonderful feeling of peace. I called my friend and she set up a visit with the missionaries. The feeling of peace was so strong as I visited with the missionaries; they explained I was feeling the Holy Ghost. They encouraged me to pray and ask Heavenly Father if Joseph Smith was a prophet. I decided that night to pray to my Father in Heaven; I knelt beside my bed. As I asked if Joseph Smith was a prophet, I felt the room fill with light. I wanted this feeling in my life at all times.

How I live my faith

I attend Church every week. I work with the young women. I teach a lesson on Sunday and we meet during the week for activities. I have assigned sisters I visit each month. I pray daily as well as study scriptures. I volunteer in a youth program outside of the Church. I strive to obey the commandments. I work on being respectful to those I come in contact with daily.
