Hi I'm Katie

I'm a small town girl looking for a big adventure. I'm a student, a nanny, and adventurer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi there :) I am a college student studying to become an Elementary Education teacher. I love children. My dream job is to become a mom. So in the mean time, I am a nanny for three children. It really pushes me to find who I am and to rely on my God.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and for awhile that was why I was a member. As I grew older and had to stand up for my beliefs, I realized that this church is my life. It is home. No matter what state or country I will go to, it will always be the same. I know that wherever I go there will always be protection by the priesthood. My first nanny job took me to a little town in Connecticut. The family was wonderful and sweet to me; however, they were nonmembers. My first day on the job I was sick from traveling and had no one to be there to comfort me, to bless me, or to even just sit with me and talk to me. The family was sweet but still strangers. The entire time I was in Connecticut I went through one problem after another. I was alone and had only beginning friendships. That was the time that I knew I needed more than just a friend. I needed my Savior. Because of the Atonement of Christ, He was there to comfort, to lead, to guide. Our Father in Heaven hasn't forgotten us. That is why I am a Mormon. My Father is there for me, anytime, anywhere. He loves me and He wants me to know that. He wants everyone to know that He loves all of us. Because of the beauty of His plan of happiness to bring us back into His presence which offers hope and comfort and relief... That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

This last year I was a nanny to three impressionable kids. I live my faith daily. Through scripture study I prepare myself daily for any challenges that I am presented with. Through my calling at church where I teach Sunday School to 10 year olds, I live my faith. I bare a piece of my testimony every time I teach. I try everyday to serve someone. Everyone needs a smile or a word of encouragement. It may not be much but everyday its thinking about someone else. I try to be the someone that is easy to smile and laugh so that wherever I am at it isn't dismal or dark and depressing. Smiling is the easiest way to serve. Because no one can have enough friends, I do my best to be there for anyone and everyone in need of a friend.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Katie
Everyone needs to be baptized. It is one of the ordinances that needs to be preformed for everyone. Because there have been people who have lived and died without being able to hear the true gospel of Jesus Christ. They have the opportunity to hear the gospel in the afterlife but they are unable to baptize themselves without a body. So we go to the temple and we are baptized for them so that they have their work done so they can progress. As we help them progress they also help us achieve perfection here in this life.
