Hi I'm Shane

I was 3 lbs 9oz when I was born in a small Idaho town and now have 6 amazing children of my own. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of 6 children. My wife and I love to support them in their interests. I spent two years in England on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served in the Army Reserves for 11 years and am proud to have had the opportunity to formaly serve my country in the military. I'm a veterinarian and together, my wife and I own and run two veterinary hospitals. I play the guitar (I should play it more) and enjoy fixing things and getting through my "honey do" lists.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active LDS family. I've always enjoyed learning about Jesus Christ and felt like there were many blessings that I've recieved from growing up in the Church. The songs and lessons I learn at church inspire me to be a better person, help me to be a better follower of Jesus Christ and help me to understand the plan of happiness that our Heavenly Father has for us. I have learned that I can get answers to lifes questions through reading the scriptures (words of prophets who have died), listening to a living Prophet and comunicating with my Heavenly Father through prayer. I beleive it is important not to blindly follow the things I hear or read. I've learned that by Following a pattern of learning Gods words and exercising my faith to live and pray about what I have learned I can get the answers and evidence I need to verify his word. I can't even count the blessings I recieve from being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It has given me an understanding regarding my purpose in life that gives me purpose and strength in everything I do. It's given me the pattern, information and support needed to raise children in a world that seems ready and willing to destroy the family, Christian values and the sweet and peace giving tesimony of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Being a Mormon has also helped me to be gratefull for the good people in all faiths and desire to enjoy their strength and goodness. One of our Articles of Faith states that "...if there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report, we seek after these things." I love being a part of a religion that is encompassing enough to included ALL things that are good and true.

How I live my faith

At church, I work with the young men (boys 12-18 years old). We teach them to read the scriptures, pray, honor thier parents, honor young women and help them to prepare themselves to be caring husbands and father. Our family tries to be very active in the community. We fast monthly as a family for the poor. As a part of our fast, each person in the family gives what money they want to give to the poor. We find opportunities to help local neighbors, humanitarian efforts and service projects wherever possible. I try not to be pushy about my religion at work but I hope that people who know me see that my religion is important to me and is a great blesssing to me and my family in every possible way.
