Hi I'm Haley

I am a nursing student. I'm an artist. I am a traveller. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am taking a break from my life as a nursing student to be a full time missionary in the Florida panhandle region. It's been wonderful! I love to travel anywhere I can; I love to learn; I love to paint and draw; I love to dance; and I love taking care of people. I love talking to people, asking questions, and sharing what I have come to know is true with everyone I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were born and raised as Mormons. I grew up going to the Mormon church and never knew any different. However, I moved around a lot in my childhood and was exposed to a lot of cultures and religions. At a young age, I had a desire to figure out for myself if the religion I was taught to believe in was really true. I never had a bad feeling about any experience with the Church, nor had I ever had a question the doctrine couldn't answer satisfactorily. But I still needed to know for myself. So I read the Book of Mormon. I prayed to know if it was true. And I received answer from God; I felt peace, and my mind was clear. The Book of Mormon was true; the events really happened; those people really existed; Joseph Smith was truly a prophet, and therefore, this church is truly Christ's church upon the earth. I choose to be a member of this gospel because I receive this confirmation of truth over and over again whenever I do His will. In John 7:17 it says,"If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." Do His will, and He will reveal truth. I know the God lives, He is our Father, and He loves us. He wants us to know Him and know the way back to Him. How we show our love for God and how we return to Him is the same: "If ye love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15)

How I live my faith

I live what I believe by attending church each Sunday. And when I leave church, I do my best to live every day of the week by the principles the Savior taught. Serving a mission has definitely been an act of faith, living my faith every day, and having the opportunity to share it with others! Each day for a year and a half, I get to wake up and devote my whole day to teaching, loving, and serving as the Savior would have me do. Whenever I feel like I cannot do it all, I remember this saying, quoted by our living-day prophet Thomas S. Monson: "Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved." I know this is how our Savior lived. Isn't that what we're trying to do? Live like the Savior did when He was here. The best way that I know how is to do the small and simple things -- daily prayer and scripture study, weekly church attendance, keeping His commandments, and loving others.
