Hi I'm Laurel

I live in the United States. I'm a Christian. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom of 6, all grown, and have 8 grandchildren. I've been married to my husband for 38 years. I was a stay-at-home mom as my children grew up. I love to read and make quilts. My life centers on my faith and my family. I love my Savior and have been blessed all of my life by His love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe He and Heavenly Father appeared to Joseph Smith in 1820 in answer to a heartfelt prayer by the young man about which church he should join. My membership and activity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped me decide what is important in life and what I should do to be an example of a believer of Jesus Christ. I feel like living the gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me live a happy life and avoid many pitfalls in the world today. I love that the Church focuses on the family, and helps me build a strong, happy family.

How I live my faith

I help organize events for the women who live in my area to help them strengthen their faith and their families and to serve others as Jesus has taught us to do. I teach high school students about the scriptures before school each morning. It is a joy to learn more about the scriptures and discuss them with these enthusiastic youth. I believe we should do our best to help others. I visit several other women each month, or more often to see how they are doing, if they need my help, or just talk. My life is enriched by serving others. I help make quilts each month that are used in our community or sent other places for people in need. Each day, I try to be of service to someone I meet. I love living in America. I try to be a good citizen and know what is happening and work at supporting worthy causes. I always vote in elections and take seriously the charge we have as citizens to be a part of the political process. I love to spend time with my own children and grandchildren making happy memories.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

I believe that our Heavenly Father has a plan for us all, His children. Part of the plan was for us to come to earth and live in families and learn how to obey His commandments and live the gospel. We are given the opportunity to choose for ourselves whether we will love what is good and right and follow Him or to go another way. I know that trying my best to keep the commandments has been a blessing for me and has helped me to be happy. Show more Show less
