Hi I'm Marilee

I live in the vast state of Texas where patriotism, and belief in god are great values, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a potato farm in Idaho in a large family. Music education was my major in college, and that is where I met my husband of 40 years! We have 5 children and 15 grandchildren. I volunteer in the schools where my kids participated and love the community atmosphere in which we live. I love reading, sewing, shopping with my girls and playing with my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home and lived in a community of Mormon people, so I really didn't know a whole lot of anything else until, I went off to college. My parents encouraged me to pray, study and search the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon to find out for myself where to find truth. When I went to college, there were many experiences that turned me more toward prayer- to develop a closer relationship with Heavenly Father. I knew that this is how I wanted to live my life. As I have made important decisions, having that personal relationship with my Heavenly Father has made them easier to make, and I have gained a confidence knowing He is there to help me. That personal relationship has helped me in my personal life, my marriage, being a mother, and being a good friend. I am also grateful to have the Book of Mormon. I love reading and studying from it. I know that it is a true witness of Jesus Christ. I gain daily strength from my studies of it. I know that Jesus Christ is my personal savior. I know that he lives. I know that he is aware of my live, my challenges, and my joys, and is always encouraging me. I know that this gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I am so thankful that I have this truth.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the church means that we all share in the work. I have served in many responsibilities throughout my life and in many parts of this country and other countries. This has been such a blessing. It is the same where ever we have lived. We have a built-in family! I have loved teaching music to the little children and the youth. I have had opportunities working with the youth, and the women's organization. I love serving in the Temple. Serving others, giving of yourself-is pure joy. Whether it is taking a meal into a sick friend, leading a choir, or teaching a lesson, it is the same.
