Hi I'm Steisy

I play the organ for my congregation. I play the piano and the violin. I run track and field. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey! My name is Steisy, and I don't have any nicknames. How sad. I am a sophomore in high school and the oldest of 3 children. I have 2 annoying (but cute!) sisters, a loving mother and caring father. But my family doesn't only include humans - I have 3 year old Labrador Retreiver named Joy. My family loves to have friends and family over on Sundays to have a bite to eat and to just have fun! One thing about me is that I love running. It's a wonderful form of exercise, and is very straight-forward, the way I want my life to be. I run track for my high school. I have played the piano for 5 years and am continuing to learn more. As I have already said, I play the organ for my ward. I also play the violin. As you can tell, I really enjoy music. It's a way to express myself. I speak English and Spanish. I enjoy reading, and I (try! to) read whenever possible. My favorite school subjects are Chemistry and Language Arts. When I grow up, I am interested in becoming a lawyer. I strongly believe that everyone has rights, and that they should be protected and defended in any way. In preperation for this career, I belong to a group of teens called Law Explorers.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that this gospel is true. I know this because I have gained a testimony for myself. I have prayed by myself ever since I was 7, and I have always received an answer to my prayers. I know that I am a daughter of God, and we are all his beloved children. I know that Joseph Smith restored the true gospel and that we have the fullness of this gospel today. I know that Christ's teachings are true, and that through our modern-day prophet (Thomas S. Monson) we receive important revelations. I am a Mormon because the gospel continually blesses my life. I have been blessed with a wonderful family that supports me in all my decisions and friends that continue to point me in the right direction. I love my life, and I try to live it the way Christ did.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in several ways. Three years ago, I was asked to play the organ for my ward. At the time I was only 12. As a 12 year old, it was truly terrifying to play in front of 60 people. Now that I have endured 2 years, I have improved greatly. I didn't know how much the members appreciated my service until a member recited Mosiah 2:17: "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." I can clearly remember her smile as she said, "Thank you. I appreciate the time you take to play for us. God is very proud to claim you as one of His daughters." I go to church activites on Tuesday nights and attend seminary every morning from 6:10 to 6:50. Seminary is a class where we study the scriptures with other youth. All of my non-Mormon friends look at me like I am crazy when I tell them that going to seminary every morning is my favorite part of the day. It helps keep me focused and centered on the examples of Christ. I go to church every Sunday and read the scriptures whenever possible. I am trying each day to focus more on what I am reading in the scriptures and I try to apply it in my own life.
