Hi I'm Gloria Williams Miller

I'm a Latter Day Saint. I believe in Christ.

About Me

I am a convert to the LDS Church since 1991. I was raised in the Baptist Church and come from a very devout religious family. As an adult I was forced to change to Catholic because of my marriage. Over the years I have tried various churches and religious groups but there was always something missing. I am the mother to five daughters, whom I basically raised alone. I have 17 grandchildren and 10, plus 2 arriving in a few months, great-grandchildren. Since I am the only member of the Church in my family, my only regret is that I did not find this Church when my children were young and still under my direct influence. I have never once questioned my decision, I have been the receipient of so many blessings over the years. There have been a lot of heartaches and trials but I have always been able to weather those storms in peace, enveloped in love from many sources. When I first joined this Church, many "people of color" told me that this Church did not like non-whites. My response is always the same, When the truth is revealed, it does not matter if it comes from "purple people eaters" it is "The Truth". I have always felt welcome and have had some wonderful experiences over the years. I know that there are more to come.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of this Church gives me the opportunity to live a peaceful and protected life. Since I follow the guidelines set out for use, there are a lot of trials that I am confident that I will never have to go through. I love the lifestyle because I do not have to wait until I am faced with a difficult decision to try to figure out what to do. I have already made those important decisions and can respond immediately. I have never before been taught so much about our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ before. They are real, loving, caring and know me by name. I have confidence in my eternal life and I look forward with anticipation and no fear. The major changes that I have made in my life and lifestyle have brought me much peace and joy. I am really happy each day and love to share that happiness with all I meet.

How I live my faith

I try to live the commandments always. I love to attend Church. Some of the things that I have participated in are: choir, teaching music to children, Sunday School teacher to primary children, teaching the women and young women. My most favorite is helping people with their family histories. This has brought me much joy, especially since I have been able to find family that I did not know I had. It has been a wonderful experience to get to visit and know them. I try to be kind to everyone and not pre-judge people based on their particular circumstance. I love little kids and try to help out parents with little ones when ever I can. Study of the scriptures is very important and I try to make time each day for that. Prayer is also another key element in living my faith. I am so happy that I get the chance to talk to Heavenly Father anytime I so choose and know that He will always be there to listen and to guide me. I have recently gotten married after being single for many years. Listening to the counsel of the Prophet and other Church leaders has helped me to make the transition and has strengthened our marriage. I really do believe in the promise that "we will not be given more than we can bear". I try to be a good example to all around me because it not only helps me but I hope that it will help others as well. I am grateful that "Church" is open and in full operation 24 hours of every day. I am grateful that my home is one of peace, mostly, and love. I love my Father in Heaven and His Son who sacrificed so much for my sins.
