Hi I'm Stephanie MacCabe

I'm a photography major. I like repurposing things while watching movies. I play the flute in a marching band, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been married for 9 months to my high school sweetheart. We met in band and have been doing band together ever since. I love taking pictures of anything and everything and love giving old things a new look. We lived in Alaska and got to ride a helicopter, float plane and go on a whale watch (taking pictures all the while of course). My dream job would be to be a photographer for some home design magazine.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon all my life but that doesn't mean that I didn't have to find it out for myself. I asked for myself. I always thought it was the right way to go because the people seemed genuinely happy, even when they had hard times. They seemed to have less family and drug problems, and frankly less hard times over all. But eventually, I needed to know for myself. Every time I had a question, "is this what God really says?" "Is this what I really have to do to be happy and have God happy for me?" "is this other church really not God's", I asked it to God. He always answered. He never appeared in front of me with light and fire blazing, and sometimes he never answered right away. But, He always gave a feeling of peace that I knew did not come from me. That feeling of peace I felt over and over and over again. I knew over time and lots of those little feelings that God really does exist. I know he cares for us. I know he has one true church and that is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The church teaches truth, and through it, we can be happy, even when times are hard. It gives me goals in life, I know where I want to go and how to get there, and that is to live with God in heaven with all of my family forever. I know living what the Church of Jesus Christ teaches can get me there.

How I live my faith

Because of the knowledge that this church is God's only church and that you can ask him about the truth of anything. I lived in Argentina for a year and a half to share that truth with the people there. Now I am back home I got married and I teach four-year-old kids about God and Jesus Christ and how to be happy according to God. We have parties in our area where we talk a bit about how to help our families and be better people, and then go and play volleyball or some other game and eat food. Its a great time to get to know more people, get a sense of community, and just take a break from homework. I go full time to a university and it is always a challenge to balance religion with school. I have found out, however, that when I incorporate my religion into my school work, God helps me get by. I can do more homework in less time, and I have better ideas (as I am a photographer) and clearer thinking. Its all about living what I believe. It's hard, but it pays off.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Stephanie MacCabe
The Law of Chastity refers to abstaining from sexual relations with anyone of whom you are not legally and lawfully married to. Then after, remaining faithful to them. Having sex is so special and is only kept special when you only have sex with your husband or wife. It is so much better that way. It strengthens love and trust between a couple and ultimately an entire family. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Stephanie MacCabe
I am a missionary and we are guides to help people come to know about Jesus Christ and His Atonement (which can spiritually cleanse us of all guilt) and how our Heavenly Father's plan will help us live a better life, help us be happy, and help us find peace in this crazy world. We also help people to know that we will meet God after we die and that we have a responsability to make good decisisions if we want to return to Him. This gospel will bless your life if you live it. More than you can imagine. It has blessed mine. Show more Show less
