Hi I'm Michele

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who loves Thai food and Jane Austen. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew-up in a blended family--a brady-bunch situation, except for we had 10 kids, not six. Trying to figure out my own family, I found myself drawn to psychology, and I studied and earned a degree in Family Science at Brigham Young University. I served as a missionary in Northern Virginia, speaking Vietnamese (poorly) and soon fell in love with my Southeast Asian brothers and sisters. I love their culture, their food, and their amazing spirits. After my mission, I attended Boston University and completed my Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling. I married my sweetheart (another story for another time) have one beautiful daughter and have another daughter on the way.

Why I am a Mormon

When did my testimony or conversion begin? That is an excellent question. I can tell you this, it wasn't just one moment, but many moments throughout my life that have convinced me of the love of God and of his plan of happiness. I remember praying earnestly as a small child and having my prayers answered and knowing that God existed and was aware of me. There are countless times when I have been singing a hymn and have felt the spirit testify to me of the reality of the atonement or that God has called modern prophets. During times of aching loneliness and other personal trials, I have felt the comfort of his spirit, giving me a new perspective and hope. I have personally prayed and studied to have an understanding of the truth and have felt the spirit bear witness to me time and time again.of the divinity of Jesus Christ and of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving and loving others. It is a work in progress, but I really try. Currently, I am the early morning seminary teacher for my church. This means that our wonderful youth (ages 14-18) wake-up before school and meet with me to discuss the scriptures. This year we are studying the Old Testament. I also look for opportunities to serve those around me, every day. If I look for the opportunities, the Lord always provides...I just have to remember to look outside of myself...like I said, it is a work in progress.
