Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm living the life as a college student majoring in Japanese. Since I was in middle school I have had a passion for the Japanese culture. I have been blessed to be able to live in Japan twice. I lived there for 15 months as a missionary serving people and sharing my beliefs. I grew up in Las Vegas. I love to read books and manga, write, watch movies, anime, Korean and Japanese drama, and cartoons. I love to draw and create art. I love to be outdoors when the weather is nice and especially love to ride my bike and spend time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but not all of my family members attended church. I realized from a young age, that I would need to have my own testimony of whether the church was true or not and to decide for myself If It was worth it. As I tried to follow my Saviors example, and to keep the commandments, I often felt peace and happiness. I loved to go to church, because I could feel love there. As I learned about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I knew that it was the way to happiness. I don't have just one defining experience that has confirmed to me that this church is true, it has been a progression. I have had so many small and poignant spiritual experiences that have helped me know that I am a child of God, and that my Heavenly Father loves me. I have been able to feel and understand that the scriptures are the inspired words of God given to us through his Prophets. I know that the Bible and Book of Mormon are the teachings and words of God. I have been able to learn for myself that we have a living prophet today who leads and guides us.

How I live my faith

I serve in the church by helping organize activities for all of the young single women in my group. It's a way for us to get to know each other, build our friendships, and provide service and support. I try to get to know all the women who attend church with me, to understand them, love them, and make sure that all of their needs are being met. I'm happy to have the guidance of the Holy Spirit as I seek to serve and get to know those around me. Personally, I strive to be the best me that I can be. I know that I am a beloved daughter of God, unique and special, and that I have a unique plan in life. I know that, as I draw closer to my Heavenly Father and Savior by following their examples and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I find the greatest joy and feel peace in times of challenge. ♥
