Hi I'm Emily

I'm a full time college student, employee, wife, daughter, and friend. I love to craft and have fun. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student, working on my degree for Accounting. I have been married to my best friend for a year and a half. I enjoy crafting, cooking, and most of all I enjoy being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. My father has been a member his whole life and my mother joined the church in her 20's. My whole life I have been taught that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I did not have one specific moment in my life that confirmed to me that this information is true. I just remember wondering in my teen years why I go to church every Sunday. Do I go because my parents say I have to? Or do I go because I want to. After reading The Book of Mormon all the way through for the first time when I was in high school, the spirit testified to me of the truthfulness of its message. I am so greatful to have the knowledge that God lives. I know that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ down to this earth to atone for my sins as well as everyone elses. I know that Jesus died for us on the cross and that he was ressurected 3 days later. I know that because of Their sacrifices, I am able to live eternally with them and with my family in heaven. But, this will come after a trial of my faith and after I follow the teachings that this church provides. I know that we have the Holy Ghost to help us and prompt us on this earth. I love this church and learn new things about it everyday.

How I live my faith

I am currently a Nursery leader in my ward along with my husband. We watch the children 18 months - 3 years and teach them basic gospel principles on Sundays. I also have the priviledge of visiting and teaching sisters in my ward on a monthly basis. This is a priviledge because it gives me the opportunity to personally serve these sisters in their homes. It gives me a way to make new friends and to feel the spirit outside of our weekly church meetings.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Emily
Mormon's aren't paid for their callings in the church. This is because our callings are an opportunity for us to serve the Lord. It is not a required part of the church, but strongly encouraged. It gives us the opportunity to serve, make friends, teach eachother, and help eachother. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Emily
Tithing is used to pay for things such as building new church buildings and temples, lesson materials for church, educacation, and helping to pay for funds towards the missionary program. We pay tithing because it is a commandment from God. We are asked to pay 1/10th of what we earn. Because I know that He gives me all that I have, I feel that asking for only 1/10th of that back is something simple that we can do to help out with these efforts. Show more Show less
