Hi I'm George Slibsager

I live In Tillamook Oregon, I Have Served In The Pennsylvaina, Philadelphia Mission! I'm A Mormon And I LOVE IT!

About Me

I love to hunt and fish, play softball and baseball, football and loved playing in my jazz band in high school. I am very active in my community with Search and Rescue, and Emergency management in my home town. I love ham radio. I like to talk to people all around the world on the radio waves! I haven't been to college yet. I graduated high school in the spring of 2009. I'm a Diesel Mechanic by trade, but I have worked many different jobs. My parents are both members of the church now, but it wasn't always that way. I have served in the Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the church, but my Father was not a member when he married my Mother. When my Dad asked my Grandparents if he can marry my Mom. They said that they will think about it. So they went to the Temple. They prayed about it, when they got done with their prayer, they looked up they saw my Mom and Dad sitting on a couch in the Temple. Then my parents got married. Just before I turned 8 in December of 1998, my parents asked who I wanted to baptize me. I said my Dad. My mom said that he can’t do it because he does NOT have the priesthood and wasn't a member of the church. I said that I would not get baptized till he can do it. In March of 99 my Dad surprised my Mom by being baptized. On December 4, 1999, 11 days before I turned 9, My Dad was able to baptize me and give me the gift of the Holy Ghost. I remember that dad like it was yesterday. So, I went to early morning seminary all four years of High School. I have a lot of non-members friends. The Christmas of 09, I went down to Hollister California for 3 months visiting family. while I was down there I didn’t go to church because that side of my family are not members. That 3 months of bring away from the church was the closest I have been to a living hell. It made me realize how important this church is to me. I came back up to Tillamook, Oregon looking for a girl to marry. Then in July of 2010, I met this amazing young woman at a YSA beach trip (that my parents bribed me to go to because I didn't want to go). As we sat down she invited me over to her ward for a baptism of her friend in September of 2010. So I went. After the baptism I went to her parents’ house where I got to meet her whole family. They got me to read the Book of Mormon. While reading through Alma in January of 2011, I felt that I needed to serve a mission, so I prayed about it. I knew that going on a mission was the right thing to do. I gave up a lot of stuff to go, but I will never regret making the choice of going on a mission.

How I live my faith

I have been going to church and reading my scriptures everyday.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

George Slibsager
From growing up in a small town that has a lot of Rain, Wind, Hunters, Hikers, I have learned that Helping out in your community is a big thing. I am involved with Search and Rescue, Ham Radio, and My Church. We have been told in Matt. 25, That we need to help any one in need. I have helped anywhere from cutting trees after a wind storm, cleaning houses after floods, help finding missing hikers or hunters, using ham radio to communicate a few states away. To me, Its all fun to do in my free time. Everybody needs to help everybody in this world. Show more Show less
