Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I'mcurrently serving as a full time missionary for the church.

About Me

I am 22 years old and currently serving in a full time mission for the church. As a kid I was always into extreme sports. I started riding motorcycles at age 8 and started racing at age 11. Due to a bad accident that came to a close shortly after. However, I continued riding as much as possible up until the mission and plan to keep at it when I get back. I also love to wakeboard, snow ski, snowmobile, hike/backpack, camp, and most of the other things there are to do outdoors. I love to make videos and write music as well. I hope to be able to develop those skills more in the future. To me my family is the most important thing in the world. I miss them a ton butI love being able to be here in Mexico serving the Lord as a full time missionary. There is nothing more rewarding.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because after being born into the religion and growing up with lots of doubts and questions I finally found out for myself that the church is absolutely 100% true. I found this out by reading The Book of Mormon sincerely and asking God the Father if it was true. He helped me to see that every time we did activities as a family I got a special warm, comfortable, "true happiness" type feeling. Also he reminded me that The only other time when I would get this feeling was when I was either at church or doing church activities. The Holy Ghost helped me to understand that this feeling I had received hundreds of times before without really realizing it was him testifying to me that what I was doing was correct and that the church is true. Every time I read The Book of Mormon and experience the power of the testimonies of Christ borne by the prophets that wrote in there, it just fills my whole being with a type of satisfaction and surety that is not found in any secular activity. I feel the same way when I hear the prophet speak in our day and when I study the words of past modern prophets. I know Beyond the shadow of a doubt that this is Jesus Christ's church. The kingdom of God on earth has been restored and I know that if I follow the commandments and councils of the prophets and complete with the ordinances of the gospel, I and my family can live together in the presence of the Father and Jesus Christ after this life. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Well right now how I live my faith is by keeping the commandments as best I can while going out daily to teach my brothers and sisters here in Oaxaca about the marvelous plan that God has for them and their family. I am leading a group of 18 other missionaries in this zone to help them to do the same so that more and more people can find the path to salvation and so that we can help them get started on their journey back to their father in heaven.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Spencer
We as missionaries teach 4 basic lessons in order to prepare people to be baptized. The order in which we teach them depends on the personal needs of the person in the moment. The method in which we teach is also guided by the spirit. There is no script. All questions are allowed. The topics are, basically: 1. The Doctrine of Christ - Who is Jesus Christ, what role he plays in your personal salvation, and what he has taught us that we need to do to be saved. We focus on the first principles and ordinances (sacred acts) of the gospel. Repentance and Baptism. Also we explain about the gift of the holy ghost and enduring to the end. 2. The Restoration - This lesson answers the questions related to where the church came from, the priesthood line of authority, why we have the organization that we have, how we know that the doctrines we teach are true, what The Book of Mormon is and how you can know for yourself that it is true. 3. The Plan of Salvation - Due to the restoration we now very clearly understand the plan of God and how we fit into this plan. This lesson explains the answer to three of the most difficult questions of this life. Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where will I go when I die? 4. The Commandments - In order to fully repent to prepare yourself for baptism you must obey the commandments. Also to keep yourself clean and worthy after baptism you have to continue keeping the commandments. In this lesson we teach you what these commandments are. Show more Show less
