Hi I'm Shelby

I am a former teacher and mom to two children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently live in small ranching community of 3,000 people with my husband and three children. My parents think it’s a miracle that I enjoy living in such a tiny town, but I love it! I grew up in a suburb of a large city where my father had his own chain of soup restaurants. My siblings and I worked there in the summers to get money for school. As a family, we loved going out to eat together or going on Sunday drives to see new parts of town. Nowadays, I have the choice of 4 restaurants in town and have seen every street here. It has been a change of family traditions for me to get married and move back to where my husband grew up. Nowadays, instead of going out to eat, we go say hi to grandpa’s cows, and instead of a Sunday drive, we go visit family. My husband and I met at an evening religion class after we graduated from college. We got married, went to more schooling and now have three children under the age of three.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know I am a better person because of the Savior and his Church. I have a clearer vision of what is important in my life thru reading the scriptures and going to Church. The Church gives me opportunities to grow and serve others. Right now I get to teach an adult Sunday school class. I try to learn about the principle I am to teach and then live them in my life. It’s a great blessing to feel Heavenly Father helping me to better my life every week. Being a Christian is the center of my life. It gives vibrance to my life.

How I live my faith

My faith is the anchor of my life. What I know helps me to made decisions, shows me how to try to raise our kids, and gives me direction for who I want to become. The world I am preparing my kids to face is daunting and perilous, but with the Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me hope that they can succeed. As a mom, I try to show my three children (3 year old, 2 year old and 2 month old) the love our Heavenly Father and Savior feel toward them. One of the greatest joys is to see them starting to see that love and respond to it with others.
