Hi I'm Daneen Sales

I'm a daughter, niece, sister, cousin, mom, aunt, gran and friend. I'm a volunteer, employee, leader and organizer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have 2 grown daughters, 1 son-in-law and 1 grandson. Family is everything to me. I returned to school and received my BA 30 years to the month after my high school diploma - knowledge, too, is of great importance. Over the course of my life I have had a wide variety of hobbies. From crafting, which includes quilting, crocheting, knitting, cross-stitch and sewing to scrap-booking, photography, reading, writing, swimming, scuba diving, line dancing, white water rafting and camping. I play the accordion, concertina and guitar. I believe in personal growth. I am an avid movie goer and love most genres - except horror, which I could never get into. I love to travel and have an affinity with beaches and mountains. My favorite souvenir is beach glass and I have some from Italy, Ireland and Spain! I love food; baking, cooking and eating are all done with relish and passion. Fun, too, is an important part of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a woman of strong faith. I have known and believed in God as long as I can remember. I have always believed that the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are three distinct and separate beings - each with a distinct and separate purpose for our lives. I have never believed that Adam's transgression in the Garden of Eden is a sin for which each individual must pay the price. I believe we must only pay for the sins which we commit. I believe in the Atonement and the happiness that it can bring to every person who makes amends and follows the example of Christ. I believe that God loves us enough to always communicate with us and has given us the means to do so. I believe in the church that Christ set upon the earth. He organized it in a way that would continually benefit mankind. Finding an established church in this day that also held these beliefs was not easy, but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is such an organization.

How I live my faith

I spent 15 years as an Assistant Girl Scout Leader, and am currently volunteering as an Assistant Camp Director for the Young Women's Camp run by the church. We help young women from 12-18 grow in their knowledge of their divine nature and help them to achieve progress in skills that build self-esteem and a sense of self-worth. As the assistant director I help to organize activities such as white-water rafting, backpacking, hiking and cook-outs and oversee those who teach other skills such as rock climbing, rappelling, swimming, canoeing, water skiing, tubing and wake surfing. I have also taught Sunday school for Young Women (15 year olds) and 7 year olds (my favorite year being a class of 6 boys!) at different times, of course. I have been the music leader for the children and thoroughly enjoy teaching songs and singing. I have spent time as leader in the Young Women's program too. For several years I was the activity chairman for our ward (congregation) - arranging monthly activities ranging from beach trips to Christmas dinners for 200+ I spent several years with a friend helping young couples put on fantastic weddings on a budget. We designed beautiful motifs inside church cultural halls, which are basically basketball courts with a stage. We would transform those utilitarian rooms into beautiful gardens, banquet halls or tents. Each and every time I volunteer to serve I find my talents are stretched and I am rewarded with a larger group of skills from which to draw upon in my life.
