Hi I'm Amanda

I love the East coast. I'm studying to become an illustrator. I love my crazy family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family my parents are a couple of true blue New Yorker's so naturally our family is loud. Though my sisters and I may not seem that way on the surface. Once you get us all together you'll be lucky if you can hear your own thoughts, It doesn't help that my dad like to blast classic rock while he cooks. We love having people over for party's and to just hangout. My dads cooking is what generally draws people to my house, that includes my friends. My best friends families are like an extension of mine. Every year we get together on Christmas day for our annual Christmas party and just eat and spend time together. One of my two most favorite things to do Is go to rock shows like warped tour and the bamboozled road show. I just love seeing my favorite bands preform live. I even got to meet the band Cartel once. It was AMAZING! My second favorite thing to do is go to the movies. I love movies! I am constantly quoting my favorites. I love the way movies take you some where else for a while. I know a movie is good when for a second after it is over I forget that it wasn't real. My favorite kinds of movies are scary ones and funny ones. I just love the thrill for being scared and knowing it's ok because it's not real and I love to laugh. when I watch scary movies both tend to happen because I laugh at myself for being scared.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always a Mormon. My family joined the church when I was 11. I never thought I would be a Mormon mostly because I had never heard of the church before. My family was never very religious though we were Catholic and had been baptized as babies. We just never really went to church except on holidays like Christmas and Easter. Being a kid I wasn't really a fan of church since all I knew of it was sitting in a big cold building on hard pews with a bunch of old people that I didn't know. I would much rather have been outside playing with my friends. My parents had about the same feelings as I did when it came to church but my mom knew it was important to go to church and to learn about Christ. After we had moved from New York to Virginia my mom had come to conclusion that we needed to start going to church. We were "Catholic" so that is where she started looking. That was about all she did to get us to church before the church came to us. We never went to the Catholic church because Mormon missionaries knocked on our door. They were there at just the right time and the right place. Which in my opinion is a clear sign that the Lord answers prayers. He answered those missionaries prays who were going door to door in the middle of a hot and humid Virginia summer looking for a family to teach. He also answered my mothers pray by sending the missionaries to us because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints had everything she was looking for and more.

How I live my faith

I love being Mormon. The people of the church are like family and the gospel is like home. When we joined the church we were new to the area and therefore did not have a lot of friends but the church had so many activities for all ages making long lasting friendships was easy. Growing up as a youth in the church I was able to go to church camps like girls camp which I loved. Just this summer I got to go back to girls camp and was and adult leader. At girls camp we would learn survival skills and about God and his son Jesus Christ and their love for us. After I graduated high school I went to a university owned by the church called Brigham Young University Idaho where I study art. While in school there I taught a class for the women every 4th Sunday and the subject was usually on the teaching from the leaders of the church. I'm currently taking time off of school to go on a mission for 18 months. On this mission I will be able to share the teachings of Christ with others just like those missionaries who taught me did.
