Hi I'm Jacob

I love to ski, play sports, be with my family and friends, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in California but moved to Utah when I was young. I would often return to visit my father before he moved to Utah and I loved going to the beach and surfing. Being in Utah by some of the best ski resorts in the world made me quickly grow a love for skiing. It is my passion, I love being up in the mountains shredding the powder, riding off cliffs and joking around with my buddies. I also love sports I have played football ever since I can remember and in high school I played a bunch of others like basketball, lacrosse, and rugby. I played rugby at the University of Utah before I left to serve a mission for my church.

Why I am a Mormon

It's simple because it makes me happy. The Book of Mormon has given me a second chance at life. It has helped me to look at life in a new way, a better way. I can now see what the real purpose of life is. It has put me on the path that is best for me, keeping me out of trouble. Through this Gospel I have learned how to get answers to my prayers that guide my life. I see God's commandments not as restrictions of things I can and can't do but as things that will protect me and bring me the most happiness. This gospel has changed my life and I will forever be in debt to God for the blessings he gives me.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary for my church. So for two years I set aside school, sports, basically everything to teach people about the restored gospel. It has been tough at times being away from my family but it has made me rely on God thus strengthening my testimony of him. I start every day off by studying from the scriptures. I then go out and try to serve and help people and teach them about the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I return home I am going to stay active in this gospel and serve and help people as much as I can.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

The restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was needed for a few important reasons. When Christ lived on this earth he was at the head of the church and it was organized perfectly. He called 12 Apostles gave them to priesthood (the authority to act in God's name) to lead the church after he left. The Apostles did, they also went out as missionaries teaching and baptizing people. The Apostles were rejected and some of them killed, and the priesthood was taken from the earth. There were still some good people on the earth who wanted to do what was right and they did the best they could. Because they were mere mortals and without the priesthood they made changes to Christ's original gospel. Many changes happened over the hundreds of years before the restoration, that is one reason why their are so many churches today. So the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was needed to bring back the priesthood. With the priesthood we now have access to the heavens. We are able to baptize people with the proper authority, seal families together forever, take the sacrament every week renewing out baptismal covenants and always promising to follow his commandments and take upon us his name. Also through the restoration The Book of Mormon was brought forth, which is a record of the ancient inhabitants of the america's, the ancestors of the Native Americans. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and works with the Bible to help us understand the fullness of the Gospel. Show more Show less
