Hi I'm Markell

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and have lived on the east coast. I'm a husband, father and tax laywer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my spare time, I enjoy making and listening to music of many kinds, reading and learning new things -- I especially love history, physics and philosophy -- woodworking, riding dirt bikes and playing board games and parlor games. I especially love the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. Having my family get together and enjoy good food, games and good company is one of the highlights of the year. And sharing the spirit of gratitude, and giving and service with my wife, children and grandchildren always reminds of Christ, of His love for me, and for everyone, and of my bright hope to live with Hm and His Father in etnernity. together with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out as a Mormon because I was raised as one. And I had a pretty "normal" childhood in a wonderful home. I stay a Mormon because of the truths the Church teaches, and because of the guidance I recieve that helps me as I try to be a good husband, father and member of my community. Over the years, I have gained my own conviction the truthfulness of Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know for myself that God really lives and is our loving Heavenly Father. I have learned this through prayer and the witness of the Holy Spirit and also by seeing the hand of God all around me. God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for the sins of each one of us and to bring about the resurrection of all. Because Christ lives, I, too, will live after this life. His teachings show me how to handle the challenges of life and give me hope that, through His power, I can change and be better. I am a Mormon because the tachings of the Church help me understand my life's purpose -- what God's plan is for me and my family -- and point the way to peace in this life and joy in the eternities.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by putting the teachings of Jesus into practice in my life. I try to have the teachings of Jesus guide how I treat others in my home, at work, in my neighborhood -- in every aspect of my life. Not just in theory but in day-to-day interactions. No question that I fall short, but the promise of the Atonement of Christ is that His grace and power and goodness are sufficient to make up where and what I lack and that I can be a better man today than in the past. Trying to follow the example and teachings of Jesus brings me great peace and comfort. I also try to live my faith by serving in volunteer positions in my local Church congregations. Right now I serve as a member of the presidency of the regional Church organization in Parker.
