Hi I'm Denise Evelyn Taylor

I grew up in southeastern Wisconsin. I am a middle school principal in the east valley of Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent convert to the church, I was baptized in July 9, 2011. It took me awhile to decide and I am thankful for the patience of the elders as they answered every single question I had as I was going through the process, I finished reading the Book of Mormon before I was baptized. I have been a single mom for the last 15 years and have two teenage sons. I have been in the field of education for 17 years, and have been a school administrator for the last four years. I love my job, working with students to make a difference in their lives. I really love the church and I know it is true. In my free time I work out, read, travel when I can and spend time with my family. I especially like to spend time with my Grandma who is still with us, she is 93 going to be 94 and as feisty as ever.

Why I am a Mormon

I had been searching for a church for quite sometime. I knew the Catholic church wasn't for me although I spent my childhood in it. I have attended many churches and none of them felt right. My first experience with the elders was when my mom converted to the church. I would sit and listen to the messages and pray when they visited. I noticed a change in my mother as she converted and became interested. The elders stopped by one night as I was rushing in from a very long day at work and they asked me to begin reading the Book of Mormon. I started with Nephi 1 and made an appointment with them the following week. They patiently spent the next two and half months talking with me and I went to the Sacrament meetings with my mother. This church just made sense to me. Although I took a long time in my mind to decide, I know I have made the right decision. I love the church.

How I live my faith

Since I am such a new member, I attend Gospel Principal's class and have been attending Relief Society Meetings. I just got my first home teaching assignments and am looking forward to meeting other sisters in the ward. I try to read the Book of Mormon a few times a week, I need to be better at taking the time each day. I work to be kind and supportive to those around me both personally and professionally. I notice the little things and love to recognize others for their good deeds and hard work.

What is being a Mormon like?

Denise Evelyn Taylor
For me being s Mormon is just exemplifies the way I have always tried to live my life even before i belonged to the church. Being a Mormon to me means having as plan and a path by which to live a good and clean life so that we can return to Heavenly Father one day. It is a focus on service to others as a way to fulfill your responsibilities to our fellow human beings and to ourselves. Show more Show less
