Hi I'm Lambert Leon Russell

I am a member of the Greensboro Summit Ward in the Greensboro N.C. Stake. I married Barbara Gwin in the Salt Lake Temple in 1972.

About Me

I came in contact with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while serving in the military (USAF.) I never heard of the church before, but I was open minded and was very interesting in learning about the teachings of other churches. I attended the LDS church services and was very impressed with what I learned. I read the Book of Mormon, which I found very true and very interesting. it was a history of a prophet named Lehi and his family who resided in Jerusalem in the year 600 BC. History is one of my favorite subjects. I've read the book through many times along with other interesting books, such as The Doctrine & Covenants, Pearl of Great Price etc. I received a manifestation to the truthfulness of these writings and my testimony is stronger than ever today. I am very thankful for the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the knowledge that He (Jesus Christ) is the Son of God, the Only Begotten of the Lord God, our Eternal Father.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I greatly believe in the restored church. It is true, the truthfullness and knowledge of the gospel was manifested to me by the Holy Ghost, which bare witness to the truth of all things. I investigated the church for approximately six-months and received a personal manifestation of the truthfulness of the gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I attended the Southern Baptist Church, even though I was never baptized or joined any of the several baptist churches that I attended from age three- until I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of twenty.

How I live my faith

My age, 78, and illnesses prevents me from activity except for fullfilling my calling to serve as a home teacher, even though my wife, Barbara, and I were very active in the church fulfilling many callings. I served as a local missionary either as a Branch, Ward, Stake or Seventy. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and am blessed with a knowledge and testimony of the church. My wife, like myself, is a convert to the church. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple Aug 15, 1972 I was baptized in the Atlantic Ocean Aug 1, 1954 off the shores of Puerto Rico while stationed at Ramey Air Force Base.
