Hi I'm Shelly

I was converted to Mormon 11 yrs ago. My husband and I have 3 sons. I am a language translator.

About Me

My language translator job is on a contract basis. And I get time with my family a lot since its not busy whole year round. But when I am busy I am busy. I have done my Diploma in Business Studies right after leaving high school. I worked for some years full time. Then joined the Mormon Church in 2000. In July 2001 I went on a mission for the Church. And right after my mission I got sealed/married to my eternal companion in the Suva Fiji Temple. As children began to arrive we got busy at home and work. But we stuck to our belief in the church and we love to stay this way. So that there is love and happiness in life through the trials of life. Now I really want to focus on my own business, but certain things regarding the family keep coming up. I guess I need more preparation thats why the Lord has put things on hold.

Why I am a Mormon

A few months before we actually got baptised, there were discussions going on about us joining my maternal grandparents church(Methodist). But when we see how there is no rules against alcohol we were a bit hesitant to go there. We investigated the Pentecostal church and the Catholic. It so happened that our TV was not working and dad called a technician to repair. But that guy came before dad got home from work. So he sat outside waiting for my dad. Mum took him some tea and biscuits but he kindly refused saying that he doesn't take tea. Then we gave him juice which he said he could take. We noticed he was reading a book which looked like the Bible. So mum asked what the book was? When he mentioned it was the Book of Mormon which is also another Testament of Jesus Christ. We asked about his church and he offered to introduce us to the Missionaries of his church who would help us learn more. We agreed and were taught by the missionaries for 6 weeks before getting baptised. Only me and my 2 sisters were baptised first coz my mum suddenly got sick on the morning of our baptism and dad took her to see a doctor. My parents were not able to witness our baptism. My mum was baptised 4 months after we were baptised. And my dad still is waiting for the right time. I know the Lord knows us individually and prepares us in due time to receive His wonderful Gospel. I am happy we joined the Church and that my children are being raised in the true Church. I know God loves us all and wants us to obey him. To read the scriptures and pray daily individually and as a family. Let us not miss this chance of uniting with our Savior in the Second Coming. I am grateful for having a loving and caring husband who loves the Lord. I know this Church is true and will bring you eternal happiness, just as it has done to me. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

My calling right now is of a teacher on Sundays for the lady's group. I am also required to visit with other sisters assigned to me each month together with my sister companion. I support the leaders of my ward and also my children who are still depending on me to teach them and set an example.
