Hi I'm Roy

I am a father, a grandfather, a marketing professional, and a singer. I live in southern California and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Dad with 4 great kids and an amazing wife. I love to camp, hike and fish. i also enjoy running and have completed several marathons. My work as a marketing professional has taken me all over the world - i love visiting different countries and cultures and enjoy meeting the people and eating their food. My pride and joy now are my 2 grandchildren. i love spending time with them. I enjoy long walks with my wife and am so grateful she is my best friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because i was challenged when i was a teenager to find out for myself if the church was true. I decided to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover which i had never done before. It was an amazing experience to read about those Holy Prophets who wrote about the coming of Christ many centuries before his coming. After finishing the book i sincerely prayed to know if it was true. The answer did not come right away but did come clearly and without question. That first experience has been repeated many times over my life as i have felt that same peaceful and sure witness that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the restored church of the Savior Jesus Christ. He stands at the head of the Church and directs his living prophet today. The Book of Mormon is a Second Witness of Jesus Christ and of his divinity, his life, death and resurrection. How grateful i am for the purpose and hope those truths give to my life.

How I live my faith

I love serving others. As a result of my service as a missionary for my church (in Bolivia) i speak Spanish. This has given me the opportunity to serve and support our Spanish congregation in our city. i also play the piano so many times on Sunday i will play for the church services for that congregation. I have worked with the youth in the church for many years now - i was active in the Boy Scouts as a youth and earned my Eagle Scout award. Since then i have enjoyed being on many camping and backpacking trips as a leader with our young men. I love sharing with them my faith and experiences that have taught me that that we have a purpose here in this life, that we have a loving Heavenly Father who guides us and helps us if we will live our lives in such a way that we can hear the quiet whisperings of his voice. I love encouraging our youth to avoid the many degrading influences in the world today in the form of music, movies, social media, TV and so on. Replacing those typical influences with opportunities for our youth to serve others, to develop talents and skills, and have good wholesome fun together has been a source of great satisfaction and peace for me.
