Hi I'm Spencer

I grew up in Tennessee. I referee soccer. I attend Brigham Young University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Tennessee. I love soccer, friends, family, and just fun in general. I started playing soccer at a very young age, so I've always been around it. Though I was never very good at it, I kept playing in the community through high school. However, my love for soccer drove me to start refereeing it. I've refereed soccer since I was 12, and it has been a great job and hobby for me since then. I also have a love for Spanish. I started taking Spanish classes in high school, but it wasn't until my senior year of high school, when a Spanish group was formed in our ward, that I really decided to dive into learning it. I loved being able to be a part of that community and share that with the members of my ward. I love going to school, I love going out with friends. I love going to church. I love learning.

Why I am a Mormon

Being Mormon has really been a blessing in my life. People are often surprised by the standards that are held with in the Church. They tell me it is a shame I can't drink alcohol or coffee or tea, or that I can't have sex before marriage. I think these standards are blessings. To me it makes sense that God wouldn't want us to partake of a substance that compromises our ability to control our actions. I like the guidelines that I've grown up with, and I choose to follow them because I find happiness in them. At times it was hard growing up in the Bible Belt, but I am thankful that I did. I think that my answering some of their questions helped me know exactly what I believe. I believe that Jesus Christ died for me, to bless my life and to save me from my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father love me. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he restored the Gospel in this dispensation. I believe that we have a prophet, Thomas S. Monson, on earth today to lead and guide us. I believe that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again one day. I'm thankful for the many blessings in my life that have come from living the Gospel as best I can. I am not perfect, and I lose my track more often than i ought, but I know that I can return to it, and I'm thankful for that.

How I live my faith

Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been an enormous blessing in my life. I've learned that my Heavenly Father loves me as I've studied the scriptures and prayed. I can see now more than ever in my life the change the Gospel can bring to people's lives. I've had the opportunity to see people change as the accept the Gospel. But I believe the thing that has most strengthened my testimony is seeing the way I've changed. As I try my best to serve others and follow God's commandments, I have seen that I am a happier person, and that I have found more purpose in life. I love the opportunity that the Church gives to serve other people. I know that Jesus Christ lives, and as I have lived His Gospel in my life, I've come to know how he uses other people to bless the lives of all people on earth, including my own life.
