Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I'm studying business management. I love being outside. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be outdoors. Hiking, camping, fishing, wakeboarding, skiing, playing football, and lacrosse are my hobbies. When I'm not scaling mountains, rollerblading or playing around town, I like to chill with my family and friends. The other time in my life is filled with studying for school where I try to obtain the best and most education as possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because first of all, I was born into a family that has known this truth for some time. I was always taught since I was little the basics of the gospel, that Jesus Christ is our savior and redeemer, that families can be forever, and the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon were things that seemed to come naturally to me. Secondly, I have asked God if these things really are true and I can testify that he has answered me. He has answered my prayer, I have a testimony that God knows each and every one of us. That we are his literal children. I know that because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can ALL return to live with God our Heavenly Father. I also know that because of the Atonement, Jesus Christ knows exactly how we feel, he knows our pains and our weaknesses, because he has felt all of them.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith through everything I do. Daily scripture study and prayer help and guide me to live happily. I also strive to be the best example and friend that I can to everyone around me. I absolutely love that Jesus Christ set the ultimate example for me and everyone of us. As I study about him I try to set goals to become more like him. I feel that the biggest lesson I have learned and applied from living this gospel is that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is real. I strive to be better and love all those around me and I know that Christ's sacrifice helps me to achieve this.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Jared
I attribute the growth of the LDS to church to its way of answering the basic questions of life. Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? The LDS church answers these questions very simply and easily with a belief in the Plan of Salvation. We believe that this plan is for everyone. It began with us living with God before we came to this earth. While we lived with God, he presented a plan for all of us to come down to this earth, receive bodies, and be tested. He layed this plan out for us to be able to prove ourselves to him. Everyone that accepted this plan came to earth. Because we all make mistakes, and God knows that, he sent his son to be our Savior. Jesus Christ came to this earth and suffered for all of our sins so that through him we can repent of our wrongdoings. If we follow in his example after death we can go to what we spirit paradise. For those that don't follow the example of Christ they will go into a place known as Spirit Prison where they will suffer for their wrongdoings. After the second coming of Christ to the earth, there will be a resurrection of ALL people. This means that EVERYONE will receive their body again in a perfected state. After everyone is judged on their works in this life they will receive a place in a Kingdom of Glory. We believe in not just Heaven and Hell but in 3 degrees of glory. Because God loves us so much he wants to give us glory. These kingdoms include: Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Jared
Unlike many churches The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doesn't have paid clergy. So the money that we do give to the church is used to build up the church in many ways. For instance, the money goes toward building more temples and chapels. It also helps fund materials needed for chuch classes and activities. We give one tenth of our money to the church because we know that all of the money we obtain in this life is only made possible because of the Lord. Also, we know that if we follow this commandment of the Lord, that he will bless us. We know that we need blessings in our lives and this is one way that we can be perfectly obedient to the Lord and receive those blessings that we need. Show more Show less
