Hi I'm Jerel

I have a beautiful wife and 5 amazing boys. I run marathons, cycle and love to play all sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California, the second child of eight. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a masters in Accountancy. I served a mission in Perth, Western Australia. I have been married for 22 years and we have 5 children - all boys!

Why I am a Mormon

I love my life and over time, have come to like who I am. Of course, that doesn't mean that I am perfect; far from it. But I do like the path and the direction I am headed. I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life on many, many occasions. I know that God is mindful of us, that He loves us, and that He wants us to be happy. I believe that there is a purpose to this life and that God has prepared a plan that will enable us to have joy not only in this life, but beyond the grave as well. I believe that the family is an important part of that plan; in fact prophets have testified that the family is central to this plan. I love my family as do most people I know. Together we struggle through the hard times and enjoy the good times. I believe that my family and I can be together forever, that God has provided a way for relationships that are developed over years to continue in the eternities. I believe that because God loves us, He has not left us alone to figure everything out. He provided a Savior, even Jesus Christ, to show us the way. He has called prophets throughout the ages to give specific instructions to the people designed to help them in their particular circumstances. Scriptures contain many of God's dealings with his people via the prophets. I believe that God has continued this pattern and that we have a prophet of God on the earth today. I certainly don't know everything there is to know about God, the scriptures, or anything else for that matter. But I do know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is his son. I have felt the influence of the Holy Spirit in ways that have convinced me of these truths. I am a child of God and He loves me. These things I know and I will continue to try and live my life as a disciple of Jesus Christ. This knowledge brings me peace and joy in spite of difficulties and trials.

How I live my faith

We love living in Arizona and we especially love living in Mesa. We stay involved in the community by volunteering in sporting programs, school events, community associations, and city government. Our church is a big part of our life and we spend a great deal of time developing relationships with those of our faith as well as our friends and neighbors of other faiths. We try and follow the example of Jesus Christ by reaching out to those around us and lending a helping hand whenever possible.
