Hi I'm Jared

I'm a husband, I'm a father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am living in Beaverton, Oregon with my wife and daughter. I grew up in Vacaville, California. I loved playing soccer, throwing shot put and discus, and playing the Tuba and Trombone. I love people. They are so funny sometimes. I also love to eat. It's one of my hobbies. But most of all I love anything that draws me closer to my Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised going to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I never really knew if it was true or not though. When I was 5 years old my father passed away. I remember always wondering why I had to grow up that way. All my friends got to make Father's Day presents and share stories about what they learned from their dads. But I didn't. I hated that. I started questioning if God even existed. Then when I was in 9th grade I remember listening to the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley challenge the World to read The Book of Mormon by the end of the year. I had never read it before. So I decided to take the challenge and read it. I wanted to know the truth. As I read and attended church I learned about a place called the Spirit World. It is where our spirits go after we die. I learned that this place is a place of waiting and rest for the righteous. One night after reading the Book of Mormon i decided I needed to ask God if it was true. I knelt down and asked him specifically, "Is the Book of Mormon true?" Then I waited and listened. I felt something. Something in my heart started feeling very peaceful. It was so small but I know it was the Spirit of God telling me that it was true. I then asked God another question, "Is my Dad in the Spirit World right now?" The feeling I was having became overwhelming. It brought me to tears but not to tears of sorrow. I was so happy. I knew that I would see my Father again. I know that he is going about doing the Lord's business. Now on my mission, I have gained so many spiritual witnesses of Christ and his Plan of Happiness that I know, by the power of the Holy Spirit, that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I knew that His Gospel has been restored to the Earth. I knew that He loves each and every one of us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following Christ. I strive everyday to remember him. I don't just think, "What would Jesus do?" But I also think, "How would Jesus do it?" and "How will this help me be like Him?" I know that his grace is sufficient to cover us, sufficient to transform us, and sufficient to help us for however long the transformation takes. Following and being like Christ is the happiest way to live.
