Hi I'm Stephen

I grew up in Massachusetts without a religion or a belief in God, yet today I am a Mormon

About Me

I live in Utah yet grew up in Massachusetts. I have three boys and an awesome wife. I travel extensively for work and have been in most of the states and provinces within North America. I enjoy computers, RC cars and playing with my family. I joined the church when I was 18 years old. I served a mission in Las Vegas, Nevada after being a member for just a short time. I know this gospel changes lives for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my own personal search and the love and concern of a sister and members of the local ward where I lived. I started searching for God when I was twelve years old. I went to various local churches with my friends and their families. They all had something to offer yet none of them seemed right. I attended one church for a long time and it seemed like a great fit for me until one day our Sunday school teacher wouldn't teach us anymore because she was not getting paid enough. This turned me off, as we had just be taught about giving of ourselves to move the gospel of Christ forward and this seem just the opposite. I had come across the elders a few times in my life and even had been taught a discussion or two a few times but it never seemed the right path to me. There wasn't anything they taught me that seemed wrong it just didn't feel like the right fit. I slowly drifted away from the church I had been attending and no longer affiliated with it anymore. Then one day when I was 18 I attended a LDS worship service to honor my sister whom had returned from serving and LDS mission to Japan. I had been to a few services before and never felt anything special and I had always left after their first worship meeting. This time however was different. I do not remember what was said or who spoke besides my sister (I do not even remember what she said) yet as I sat in that worship meeting that day the spirit of the Lord shook my body and let me know that the church and religion I had been looking for was right in front of me. I was baptized a short time later and I have been active ever since. I am a Mormon today because of the comfort the gospel brings into my life, when times are good or time are bad, it is there to help guide you on this journey of life. Following Christ, the Bible and the Book of Mormon give me the strength to lift and guide my family.

How I live my faith

I guess the best way I live my faith is by attending church no matter where I happen to be in the world on a Sunday. I have attended church in Hong Kong, Aruba, England, Canada, and in most of the states of the US. I am currently a secretary in the young men's organization. I help to keep track of who is attending and what we are doing in our various meetings. I also enjoying reading scriptures with my three boys each morning and evening. I feel it is important that they grow up knowing the there is a Christ and a Heavenly Father and not have to figure that out for themselves as I did.
