Hi I'm Scherelyn

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Utah, but have lived in Virginia for the past 24 years.

About Me

I am a retired school teacher. I taught kindergarten and junior kindergarten in Virginia for 23 years. I now enjoy staying home and am able to catch up on my reading and especially to be able to spend more time studying the scriptures. My husband of 44 years and I have five children and fifteen wonderful grandchildren with one more on the way. I like visiting family and especially love when we can entertain family in our lovely home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have a wonderful pioneer heritage. I have always been active in the church, but have gained my own testimony of the gospel through study, church attendance, but mostly by obedience to gospel principles. I have found that when I do what the Lord expects of me, that I am happier and that my life goes smoother. I still have challenges, as we all do, but through my faith I am able to better meet those challenges. The world is becoming more and more removed from the teachings of Christ, and I am glad to know the truth and that God's laws do not change to meet the demands of society. I pray for my grandchildren that they will be strong in the faith and able to resist all the temptations of the world. We have a living prophet with 12 apostles who guide our church and receive revelation from God who give us counsel as to how we should live to stay on the straight and narrow path that leads to eternal life. I am grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example to everyone around me. I try to be positive and look for the good in people. My language is respectful of Deity and I live a completely moral life. I have served in the church in the calling of compassionate service leader. I helped to arrange service for those in need. Some of this service included providing meals, child care, house cleaning, giving transportation when needed, and just offering a listening ear and helping hand. i now serve on the preparedness committee in Relief Society. I enjoy attending church each Sunday and supporting the various activities that are offered during the week. Scripture study is very important to me and helps me feel closer to God so I can receive his guidance.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Scherelyn
I know that we have a prophet on the earth today. God loves all the people all of the time and did not just provide prophets for the people in ancient times. I feel the people in the world today need just as much, if not more, guidance from God as those people did long ago. Our prophet receives revelation for the church concerning current situations that concern God. He is there to help us live the gospel principles and counsels us in what the Lord wants us to do.
