Hi I'm Liz

I love to study art and culture. I'm an optimistic realist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Colorado so I love to be in the beautiful outdoors- running, skiing, biking, swimming, basically anything active and fun. I love to study people and cultures. Anything to do with art, food, architecture, history, music and people's lives interest me. I love to laugh and make others laugh. I love reading, writing, dancing, shopping, going to museums, parks, and playing. I still have this pipe dream to be a ballerina when I grow up. We will see how that goes? I am interested in law and justice. I could not handle an office job at a computer all day- I need to be around people and out & about. I like to plan parties, entertain, design beautiful things, and travel. I also love to take naps.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because God lives and has answered my prayers. Yes, I was born into the Church. Did I just take my parents' word for it? No. Instead, I have asked for myself about different things being true and time after time God shows His love for me and answers an affirmative YES. I studied, asked questions, and then received answers. Over the years I came to know for myself that the Book of Mormon is holy scripture that can help me on the day-to-day basis. I know God calls living prophets to help me be happier and to give me direction and purpose. I have been through some very trying/depressing experiences with family and friends. During these times I realized that my Savior Jesus Christ feels everything I have ever felt, so that He can comfort and heal those hurts. I learned this kneeling in prayer, pleading for relief from the pains. Knowing this gives me hope and helps me get on with life. I keep getting answers to prayers and learning more about the gospel, so that I cannot doubt in the truth; I just keep walking by faith because I know He's there and will answer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acting on it. So I try to do all that I can to live what God has told me to do. I try my best to keep the commandments. I know it works because it makes me happy and fulfilled. Sounds easy enough right? But sometimes I hesitate because of laziness or my stubborn attitude, so I'm slow to obey those commandments; then there is need to readjust/refocus and try to live better. Then comes the trust and hope reminder, if I can make it through the next little trial, then I can come out happier, stronger, and (ideally) closer to God. I couldn't keep "living my faith" if it weren't centered in Jesus Christ. He is the the constant perfect one and I am the variable human who keeps messing up despite how hard she tries.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Liz
Mormon missionaries proselyte because they know that this is all true! When you feel the effects of the atonement in your life, Christ's love and mercy, you cannot help but want to share this joyful message to the whole world. We have to send people out to share the good news- literally sharing the gospel! Show more Show less
