Hi I'm Alena

I grew up in Southern California. I love volleyball, the beach, volunteering with special needs kids, and math. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an undergraduate student majoring in mathematics. I love to play volleyball, do outdoor things, cook delicious food, sing and play ukulele, do arts and crafts, fashion, and anything fun! My younger brother is autistic and has sensory processing disorder, and I miss him all the time. So I love to volunteer with special needs kids too. They are the sweetest.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because, put simply, it makes me happy! I know that I'm happiest whenever I'm doing what's right and serving others. I never have to feel alone because I know that there is always someone who loves me--Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I find joy in the truth that we can return to live in exaltation with our Heavenly Father and our families as long as we're trying our best and constantly becoming our best selves.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by accompanying the congregation as the organist during our church meetings. This scared me at first because I've never played the organ before, but with God's help I've been able to overcome this challenge well enough. I live my faith by serving others. I love to volunteer with special needs kids because they are so genuine and innocent and Christlike. I also love to serve others by doing the little things like bringing banana bread to a neighbor who's had a hard day or helping a friend study. What I've found is that usually those people end up brightening my day!

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is similar to the Bible, only it takes place in the Americas. It is a collection of the writings of the prophets of the Church on the American continent from about 600 B.C. to 400 A.D. It contains the teachings of Jesus Christ and the principles of His Gospel. The most important event in the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ came to visit the people in the Americas after he was resurrected, just like he visited the people in Jerusalem after he was resurrected. Anyone who reads the Book of Mormon and sincerely prays with a desire to know that it is true will receive that feeling from the Holy Ghost that it is a true book that testifies of Jesus Christ.
