Hi I'm Alex Burgess

I'm from the south coast, but live in the North west . I work and am studying to be a sixth form teacher, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am an everyday person, a Husband, a father, a son, an uncle and a friend to many. I graduated from university in 2011 with a degree in criminology and sociology. I studied this because I am interested in people and values within society. My studies have never failed to spark a conversation yet. I focused alot of my studies on social reaction to crime and deviance, highlighting the role of the media in social perceptions and opinions. I currently work in Business development, working with people, building relationships and doing a lot of talking. I enjoy my work as it is challenging and rewarding, but what I really enjoy is my current training. I am training to become a Sixth form Teacher in Sociology. I really enjoy teaching and helping the students see the subject come to life. Sociology is great to teach as you can see its affect in everyday life as we study the family, religion, education, crime, and the media. The most important thing to me in my life is my family. I have a wonderful wife who looks after me, and raises my two daughters to be little angels. I love football, and follow a holy team, I'm a Saint and not a sinner. When ever I can i visit my home city and watch my team; I still enjoy a Saturday at the football with my Dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but as every other member came to a point where I questioned the church, and thought was it for me? I knew a lot about the church as I had paid attention in my Sunday school classes, and knew if i wanted to know if it was for me I 'd have to do something, and that was experiment upon the principles that I knew so well. The key to my membership was when I sincerely read the book of Mormon and prayed about it. I received a personal answer that I could not deny, all the words, all the lessons I had heard through my life were true and Jesus is my saviour. The church helps guide me in my life. It teaches me to be a better Husband, Father, and person, without the church I would not be the person I am today, the church helps me to be my best self.

How I live my faith

I am very active in my Church life and often speak to congregations. I have responsibility in organising large activities and public events at the church. I love attending services with my family, and teaching my family about Jesus Christ and his gospel. My daughters are very young and love the nursery at the church, I love hearing what they have learnt about each Sunday. I love to share my beliefs with those that I meet, it is no great secret that I am a Mormon.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Alex Burgess
You can know for yourself if "Mormonism" is true by seeking a spiritual answer to a spiritual question. You can find logical answers to the truth of the church, but to really seek a knowledge and conviction you have to pray to God and feel the truth of it. we believe the holy spirit encourages all to follow truth, and when an individual prays about "Mormonism" and truly wants an answer the holy spirit will answer their prayer in an individual and personal way that they will know in their soul that they have received a spiritual answer. As an individual then follows the commandments your conviction of the truth of "Mormonism" will grow. Show more Show less
