Hi I'm Wilson Simons

I'm a Mormon! I know Jesus Christ lives and loves me. I love to play any type of sport, and I love my family and my friends!

About Me

I'm on a mission in the California, Roseville Mission. I just hit my 18 month mark in November. I really don't want to go home, because i love my mission so much. It has blessed my life so much, in so many ways. I have two sisters and one brother. My family is one of the most important things to me. I love spending time with them. I am so thankful for the fact that my parents were sealed together, which gives me the sure knowledge that we will all live together eternally. I love music, one of my favorite bands is The Black Keys. I really like any music that sounds good. I love to rock out while driving in a car, alone or with friends. Once i get back from my mission i will hopefully go to BYU and get a degree in Business with a minor in Law. I grew up in Utah, and there is where i want to live for the rest of my life. I'm basically obsessed with any type of sport. I enjoy playing sports with the people I love. I love playing basketball probably more then all the rest, its the sport i care most about improving and being the best that I can be. My Dad will always be able to beat me though, which is frustrating and quite humbling. I love my life and everything and everyone in it. I love the Lord and the many blessing I receive from him daily.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, and i loved primary and young mens and all of that great stuff, but i didn't know for sure if this was the true church on the earth, so there came a point in my life where i really needed to know if it was true or not. I decided to start on the Book of Mormon. I read it and i loved it. It is my favorite book, i prayed about it and just as Moroni says, the Holy Ghost will let you know its true. And thats exactly what happened. And since then i have never looked back. I love this church with all my heart. I know this church is true, and the only church on the earth today that has the Priesthood Authority Of God. And i feel so blessed i was able to be born into this church. I feel even more blessed that i can help others come unto Christ. I am a Mormon because i receive blessings every minute of every day. Blessings other people would be jealous about.

How I live my faith

I made the biggest step in living my faith on going on a mission. I knew that was what the Lord wanted me to do, so i did it. I try my best to develop Christlike Attributes. I have a long way to go but as i rely on the Lord more i will receive guidance in all areas of my life. I live my faith by trying to stand up for what is right in the face of not only non-members but also members. For these two years of my mission i feel like its up to me to prove to Heavenly Father how much i appreciate all of the things he has done for me. I do that through giving service to all and helping everyone have the chance to accept or reject this gospel. I also live my faith by being the best example i can be to the people around me. I know that a great example in someones' life can make all of the difference, so I try to help out others through a good example.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Wilson Simons
There are so many things that prove to me that there is a God. First i can walk outside and see with my eyes all of his creations. I can look and know that God made all of these awesome, beautiful things for us. I love a scripture from the Doctrine and Covenants section 59 verse 18 "Yea, all things which come of the earth in the season therof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart;" God has made all of his creations for us and to make us happy. I also know that there is a God because i can feel him, I can feel him when i repent, and i feel his love and his understanding. He has answered so many of my prayers. I know that he lives because i have a wonderful family that I know he has blessed me with. Each member of my family was put there for a specific reason and I have been blessed to have them with me. I know that God lives. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Wilson Simons
The Word of Wisdom is simply a health code that our Heavenly Father has given us to bless us. God is the Father of our spirits and when we came to our families he gave us a body, of flesh and bones, just like his. They are his. He knows how to best care for them. He knows the human body better then any doctor out there. He knows what will be harmful to them and what is good for the body. He has asked us to stay away from Tobacco, Alcohol, Coffee, Tea, and any other illegal drugs. As we follow this commandment, just like when we follow any other commandment, we receive blessings. First, we will have good health. As the Lord says they who follow this commandment, "...shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones...and shall run and not be weary and shall walk and not faint" I have seen many people just on my mission that have suffered because they haven't followed this health code. Their bodies literally are failing them. That to me, is just plain sad. And is it a complete mochary to God and the gift of our bodies that he given us. I have seen the blessings in my life from following this. We are also promised that we will have a greater portion of the spirit. If someone was drunk or high there is no way they could listen to and follow the simple small promptings of the Holy Ghost. It just wouldn't happen. I have seen many blessings in my life from following this simple commandment. Show more Show less
